“All I Want BEFORE Christmas”

I know it might seem a little early but the final stretch is upon us.  In fact, given this year, most people just can’t wait for the Holidays or even the year to come to an end.

The shopping season is certainly well underway.  Though they call today “Cyber Monday” the reality is everyday has become a Cyber day with virtual everything (including Thanksgiving).

Thank goodness Dentistry is done in person face to face.  You saw how quickly your patients rallied back and returned to your office.  That shows just how important you are in their lives.  Something worth celebrating and I’m sure you paid a great deal of thanks last week to this very notion and all the ways you are able to make a difference.

With that in mind, today I’m asking you to fill in the blank, “All I want before Christmas is…”  Now, while that is a literal statement, I do want to expand upon this with you a bit.

Far too many Teams wait until the “New Year” to assess where they are, set future goals, or make any forward-looking plans.  Actually, far too many teams never have a goal setting meeting or a yearly planning session to begin with.

This week, BEFORE December 1st, I ask you three important things…

First, what all have you accomplished this year?  With all you’ve been through, think about the ways you’ve had each other’s back, stuck together to bring health to your patients, fulfill the purpose of your practice, and maintain positivity for your community.  Let’s take inventory of these victories and be aware to not just focus on all that this year as brought in terms of challenges, but instead all this year has provided in opportunities to grow, improve, and continue to make progress.

Second, now back to my actual question, what do you want BEFORE Christmas in order to finish strong, push your potential, check things off, get organized, and prepare for the future?  This is the only way to make sure you achieve the goals you set both for your practice and also for you as an individual.

That’s a lot in one question, none the less, it is a critically important question that I really want you to consider.  Make a list and check it twice and for goodness sake turn this naughty year into a nice finale that you can be proud of.

There are still clinical days on the calendar and many weeks left in the twelfth month of the year.  Let’s make the most of it – the way only you and your team can.

Third and finally, let’s talk about your patients.  Flip this question upside down and ask it for every person you are going to see.  You probably have limited (if any) additional time left to ‘do dentistry’ in your schedule.  So, with the theme of ‘get them while you’ve got them,’ what can the entire team being doing to motivate, compel, influence, educate, and guide your patients to pre-paid, pre-schedule, and fully committed yeses now to ensure you’ve got a highly productive and exceptionally strong start to the new year.

There you go… all BEFORE Christmas.  I have no doubt you’re all able get it done and then some.  However, you won’t if you don’t have the discussions, put your heads together, get on the same page, write it up on the board, and commit to making it happen.

The year 2020 is not in the history books yet, so close it out in the best way possible and really have something celebrate when the New Year arrives.
