Be Quarantined With Your Favorite Person

Of course, I hope you are quarantined with all of your favorite people.  If you have kids, they can be close by, if you have a significant other that they are with you.

You have many Doctors, Nurses, and First Responders on the front lines battling the pandemic surge to serve and save others.  You have many dentists, perhaps even you, wanting to help patients with emergencies while knowing the risks.  You have truck drivers, farmers, grocers, couriers, and so many others ensuring the necessities of daily life remain.

This virus is a reminder of the courage, love, compassion, and humanity we share, not the breakdown of society.  This is a showcase of how so many come together to do so much.

We are a powerful force.  As the commercials say, “we the people” – not the Virus – have the power.  DO NOT GIVE UP YOURS.

In fact, that is exactly what I want to emphasize today regardless of who you are with right now.  I do know you are with – one person: You.  And I hope ‘you’ are being your favorite person right now to you.

We hear all over the news about people being depressed or over-eating or drinking too much or other acts of frustration.

However you are feeling, the way to be the best version of yourself is to work on it, reflect on being you, think about your thoughts, and be present.

Question:  what could you do to be nicer to yourself?

What things can you do daily to work on you?  To have some “me” time.  To build up your positivity and energy and joy.  What do you like about yourself?  What don’t you?  Take some time and think about it.  Think about you.

Like we talked about last week, take care of your environment because it’s the place you’ve got to be – but – that means take care of the people in it too.  That begins with you.

Here’s the thing we know: when it’s all over, you are still stuck being you, even getting out of quarantine won’t let you escape that.

Right now, take some time to explore You.  Your hopes, your dreams, your aspirations.  You should use it to find your center and go to work on making sure you are your own favorite person.

Here we are going stir crazy, wondering when it will end, will they keep moving the line or adding more restrictions; who knows what to believe about anything you hear or read these days.

What we do know is time is always a gift no matter what, when, or who it is spent with.  You get the most time with yourself, so make the most of it – for your own benefit.

We can all dwell on it or just deal with it.  We’ve been saying for weeks now, we all get to choose how we respond to the situation and how we feel about it, isn’t going to change it on the outside but can change it, change us on the inside.

I don’t know about you, but aside from my immediate family, I can’t think of anyone I’d rather be ‘sheltered’ – locked down – ‘staying at home’ with – other than me.

That’s the person I want to be happiest with every single day.  It is, at least for me, most certainly a full-time job in and of itself.

Hang in there, we’ll get through this.  And once it’s over, you might just be an even better you.
