Dentistry’s Profit vs Joy Dilemma

Which is more important in dentistry: the profit or the joy?  You might be surprised to know the answer to that question gets split right down the middle, depending on a doctor’s perspective.

Some doctors see dentistry as a means to an end.  They don’t mind doing it but they love doing other things too.  Instead it’s a viable business, profession, income that then affords them the ability and freedom to set their own schedule and have the lifestyle they want.

They get the profit on the inside so they can have more joy on the outside.

Then you have other doctors that just don’t want it to be “all about the money.”  They focus solely on helping people and are passionate about dentistry.  Often, they don’t even know if they are profitable or making any money, instead dentistry becomes their way of life.

They get joy on the inside and it’s not that big of a deal to them what they have or don’t have on the outside.

Of course, as you already know because you are here with me, there is a third type of doctor (likely You), who says, “Why can’t I have both?”

Why does it have to be either or, one or the other?  Why do they have to be mutually exclusive?

And the answer is: they don’t.  But everyone out there wants you to believe that they are.  That your pursuit of your goals, possibly more money, will come at great sacrifice of your ability to enjoy what you do.

Or your attempting to live your passion and create the practice you love will result in one that isn’t as financially successful as it otherwise could be.

On top of all that, you have people and even other doctors (and sometimes voices in your head), who tell you something isn’t possible or it’s not worth trying because their attempt failed.

Here’s the thing… it doesn’t matter about anyone else.  It only matters what you want.

And this is why I wrote my brand new book about both a fun, enjoyable, lifestyle practice that is also incredibly profitable and a viable business.

Creating A Highly Profitable Dental Practice (That You’ll Actually Enjoy!) >>>

You see, to me, it’s common sense that actually the only real victory is when both of these things align.

You can lie to yourself about being happy or you can just give up on trying to enjoy what you do but that won’t allow you to tap into your truest potential and will always get in the way of making your practice more profitable.

The real goal is to find that sweet spot.  That place where you are just in perfect harmony in and out of the practice.

Are you having any fun and what would make it more enjoyable?

And then we can flip it over and ask…

Are you making the income you should be and what would make it even more profitable?

These questions will have different answers to different doctors and in part that is the problem because you only see it from your own personal viewpoint.  While you are undoubtedly smart, we all have only partial perspective that is limited to our own experiences.

I’ve seen some very boastful doctors on the surface but complain about the reality inside the practice (and as you’d guess, some are actually successful and some aren’t even close).

And I’ve seen the opposite quite a lot, where someone is very hard on themselves and yet they are doing much better than they think or give themselves credit for.  However, this can also lead to sabotaging their own success with their lack of confidence even though they are so close and poised for something great.

The good news is you don’t have to leave it up to only your experiences and the knowledge you’ve gained throughout your career.

You can benefit from my perspective from working with hundreds of successful practices.  I’m giving you a play book that’s been decades in the making.  It reveals what dentistry’s elite practices have done to create prosperous lifestyle practices…

Now, I’ll leave you with a challenge and then I will tell you where we are going to go next week.

When all of this seems so obvious, why do doctors get stuck in their own way?

There are the usual culprits for some doctors… belief, mindset, other people’s opinions, feeling greedy or guilty, having tried before, being jaded, or being afraid of what it might actually take to find balance.

Others just don’t know how to move the needle, how to push the limits, how to go from where you are to where you want to go.

However, the biggest obstacle that holds doctors back is: losing clarity of vision.  They become complacent, almost robotic in their routine.  While it might be a great routine, a good life, more money than they once thought they would make… they stop asking the questions.

You can’t stop asking yourself these questions.  As life changes, you evolve.  Times are different with ever stage.  It might be more of the same just better or it might be more of something different; you won’t know unless you keep asking yourself those questions.  Not for the sake of it, but because you deserve it.

So why not let yourself dream of a future perfectly crafted with both profit and joy, income and lifestyle, and freedom inside and outside.
