[EXPOSED] Practice Transformation In Progress

Last week I had the largest group of People from a Practice arrive in Nashville for their own Practice Transformation Blueprint Day: 2 Doctor/Owners, 1 Spouse / Office Administrator, and 3 Practice Champions from Key Roles from within (Ortho Lead, Office Manager/ Treatment Coordinator Lead, and Re-Call / Phone Sales Department Lead).

This was very unique because usually I have only the Doctor and their Spouse with maybe one Practice Champion during these 24-hour immersions. This is because it is meant to be very personal and a sort of discovery process before moving full speed ahead with the Team. Where it’s my priority to really understand where you are in life, your career, desire for the Practice future and how that relates to everything else you want to see, experience, have happen in all areas of your life.

I welcomed this Challenge because this group from Fort Worth were not only some of the most positive, caring, and warm hearted people I’ve ever met, they are ambitious and willing to accept any challenge to achieve their ultimate potential.

Friday I will share with you some specific outcomes and how together we manufactured what I believe will be the biggest Practice Transformation I’ve achieved to date in the shortest period of time (less than 6 months), and I’d say we’ll more than triple their Practice Performance.

And the reason why this will be possible is following the three principles and guidelines I gave you last week.

1 – SHARING Ownership of Responsibilities.

2 – INVOLVING Others in Ideas AND Actions.

3 – BUILDING Consistency with your Teams daily Performance.

The three Champions they brought with them were the perfect people and excited to grow in their own responsibilities and career.

And you know what, you have them in your Practice too.

That’s why today I wanted to tell you something – there are two primary reasons you experience a hamster wheel of Practice Performance instead of a fast moving Train blazing down the Tracks or a Race Car speeding towards your goals is because:

1. We have our key people doing too many things, all of which are not Practice Growth Related…our Champions are bogged down in the locker room or sitting on the bench or otherwise doing tasks that much less qualified, lower paid, and less ambitious people could be doing.

You MUST let your Practice Champions PLAY BALL and give them things that will allow them to thrive, AND FOCUS on what they do best.

It’s normal to fall into the trap of trying to save money, cut payroll, get your best person to do as much as they can possibly fit into a day and survive as a human – and that’s what will wreck your practice.

It’s about FOCUS on the HIGHEST AND BEST use of time, activity and daily performance. Remember: never volume, always value.

The reality is most Practices have ‘everybody trying to do everything’ and therefore no one is really accountable for specific things. People like to throw the word “cross training” around and that’s great, good idea, but day to day you needed people who are master-trained to do specific things and they are able to perform them at the highest level possible.

Usually the key activities that drive growth in a practice are afterthoughts, oh-by-the-ways, and things done only if someone gets around to it.

This is about disguising activity for accomplishment.

Something we don’t believe in and I won’t let you fall victim to.

The 2nd thing holding you back, keeping growth stagnate or plateauing or accepting 5-10 even 20% growth instead of really getting to the sweet spot of Practice Increase and Income Accelerator…

2. Is you hang on too long, you don’t let go, you excite and empower your people but then you don’t let them take the ball and run with it.

You’ve got to let go.

Once you have given someone the responsibility to do something, make decisions (set parameters if you must), then give them a chance to make something happen.

No kid want’s their parent to stand over their shoulder all the time.

Your evolution of your Practice Maturity and your desire should be to have Your Practice Champions OWN their Areas, Ideas, Systems, People, and OUTCOMES.

So many times I see Dentists struggling, tired, burnt out or at least worn out, because they are carrying the weight of the Practice on their shoulders, the effort of the daily production, the volume of treatment that needs to be created, sold, and produced every day, week, and month.

What they seldom realize is that they, maybe you too, are doing it to yourself because you haven’t fully empowered, completely involved, and finally let go of specific things and handed them off to your Champions to run with.

I promise you this is where magic happens. It won’t always be exactly what you want or exactly the way you’d do it, but you’ll have a lot less burden and you’ll be able to have a lot more fun doing what you love to do everyday.

Most importantly, you want to take each of these points, 1 and 2, and think about EVERY Team Member in your Practice and ask yourself what are they the best at, what are they investing the majority of their time in, is there a way to better utilize them for our Practice Growth and their Personal Strengths, and how can I better empower them to perform at their best and really own the outcome of this specific area.

When we did this with my Friends from Fort Worth it was truly extraordinary to see the faces of the Champions light up, the opportunity invigorate their spirits and to see and feel the confidence we (everyone around the table, and myself included) instilled in them – they will take the Practice to the next level, in fact, I predict a multiple level of growth very fast.

Because 3 of our best Players are now focused on their specific strengths, freed up to tackle the highest value roles and responsibilities daily, we have a TEAM growing the Practice, creating opportunity everyday and selling Dentistry for the future.

Remember this. You can either decide to keep your expenses as low as possible or you can choose to maximize your growth potential and opportunity. You’ll only smother your possibilities when you think, act, manage cheap – you will never win having any one person try to do too much – if you want support, deservingly so, don’t you think other people deserve support too?

99 out of 100 Practices I see are built to stay the same, not built for growth…it’s a dramatic difference that is like night and day; and literally can create Practice Transformations and double your Practice overnight.

Stay tuned for this week’s Profit Report for all the details on this and the outcome of the specific example I’ve given right here. It’s going to blow your mind and challenge the very core beliefs of what you’ve heard and believe is possible.

These Doctors, ambitious, smart, successful Doctors brought their Champions because they believed in them, they wanted them to reach their personal potential. We made decisions, outlined objectives, created plans, and empowered them to carry them out and run with it, so now there are 6 people plus my team and I all running with things at the same time, instead of just one lonely doctor or at best a right hand person who’s already overworked and underpaid…

This is about dividing and conquering! And I am a Master at it. If you’d like some help or a fresh pair of eyes (not just anyone’s eyes, someone with Super Hero x-ray vision and ability to transform your practice), tell me all about it, win me over, convince me on your worthy pursuit, desires, and ambition for your life and practice.

I’d love to hear from you and someday I’ll be talking about You and life-altering practice-accelerating success story.
