There is no success by accident.
There is no glory without sacrifice.
There is no reward without responsibility.
This is all good news for the right doctors. Doctors that are willing to take action because truly desire their stated goals; as opposed to those just standing around with a list of things to complain about. The right doctors thrive off of being in control of their own results, practicing on their own terms, and being in charge of their plans for success.
Today, in this week’s Report, I’m going to give you the keys to the acceleration of your life that will allow you to accomplish anything you want to in and out of your practice.
Over the past several weeks, I have talked about the Ultimate Practice Profit Plan (keywords being PROFIT and PLAN). I have given you the inside secrets to creating a business structure that will result in you prospering in your practice based on your goals.
The biggest challenge for all Doctors is realizing that they do in fact own a business that can serve as the vehicle for success. Until that point, they have nothing but a job.
You may or may not have fallen into this trap. If you are like most Doctors, they take years and sometimes decades before they really understand that doing dentistry is a job but owning a dental practice is a business. They are two separate things.
When is the last time you went to a continuing education course, watched something online, read an article or studied anything clinical?
I’d bet it was relatively recent. Probably yesterday, likely last month but certainly sometime in the not too distant past. That’s because you are interested in continuing to develop your own clinical skills. Who wouldn’t be – it’s what you do.
So, then I ask you, “If you grow your skills, why does your income not grow with it?”
Or maybe it has gone up over the years. You might look back over the last three, five, ten or twenty years and see a slight incline to your revenue (hopefully then also to your profit).
But, why isn’t it greater, faster, more profitable and more enjoyable?
That’s because the clinical skills are only worth as much as your business can make them.
The bigger question is: what have you done recently on the business side to dramatically improve your practice so that it can be worth more to you and to everyone involved?
What are you doing to become a better owner of your greatest asset? The ATM Machine of your life comes with a lot of responsibility whether you like it or not. The only difference is whether or not you are getting paid what you are worth and deserve.
It’s the owning of the practice that results in the real lifestyle breakthroughs. It’s the owning of the practice that allows you to break free from just having a job being a dentist (even if it happens to have your name on the door – and the bills).
It’s a shame that more Doctors don’t find the keys to true liberation through practice ownership.
I don’t mean you don’t enjoy what you do. I’m sure you enjoy it. I don’t mean you aren’t making a difference with what you do. I know you make a difference.
The question really is are you rewarded for it; for your sacrifice, your risk, your liability, your burden of so much and so many?
Here’s what you must know, as we drive full speed into the next new year, it can be whatever you want it to be.
You don’t have to repeat everything you did last year – but you can. You don’t have to stay the same, make the same, do the same – but you can.
You also can take 2018 (and all the years leading up to it), and you can learn from them. You can leverage the skills, knowledge and experiences you gained to make 2019 more – better – different than any year in the past.
It’s all possible… change, improvement, growth, profit, fun
…when you have a plan to make them reality.
I’ve never met a successful Doctor who was happy with the way their year ended who didn’t BEGIN it with these keys to the acceleration of success:
