Practice Luck Factor #2 (of 7)

Here we go with our next LUCK FACTOR that is a difference maker for Doctors and Teams who really want to achieve extraordinary results with their patients every single day.

You’ve surely heard the expression, “THE HARDER I WORK THE LUCKIER I GET.”

And while that is true, I would add “smarter” into that sentence because hard work alone has a diminishing return.  Besides, you can work as hard as you want on the WRONG THINGS and you will find yourself very UNLUCKY.

Today, I want to throw out a word to you that I have written about very often.  It may very well be the first and foremost premise of how to get luckier whether its in your life personally or in your practice professionally (as a team member and an influencer for your patients).

That word and LUCK FACTOR #2 is…

EXPECTATIONS

Yes, it is as simple as that.  Expecting good things, positive outcomes, yeses, bigger cases, quality patients and a smooth-flowing day is the only way they become real.

I’m not talking about burning candles, playing soft music, sitting with legs crossed, hands on knees and wishing for positive energy.  Though if that works for you to get your mind right, I certainly don’t judge.

Yes, it does take more than thoughts to make things go your way.  However, THOUGHTS are the most powerful creator of energy and positivity there could ever be.  Thoughts lead to LUCK more than most people are willing to admit and accept.

Your energy, attitude, thoughts, and language (more on that next week), are like boomerangs in the world you live in and with the people you are around.  And that is the power of Expectations as a Luck Factor.

In most practices, they are thinking about insurance BEFORE the patient is; they are assuming a patient can’t afford it or will think it is too expensive BEFORE the patient is; they are putting up more barriers because of negative expectations and assumptions BEFORE the patient is.

The bottom line is: for every team member in the practice – your thoughts and expectations affect and cause effect on everyone else, especially your patients.

You show me a practice that makes magic happen routinely and I will show you a team and a doctor that EXPECT MAGIC TO HAPPEN routinely.  Of course, they do things to make it happen too – first though it began in their minds with their beliefs.

If you want anything in your life to go your way, start first by believing that it will and that you deserve it to be so.  By you setting and controlling YOUR EXPECTATIONS FIRST, you will be amazed at the LUCK it will bring.

Trust me, try it and own your Expectations.  Watch LUCK start coming your way in every aspect of your life.

It would be great for you to discuss this with each other and talk about the specific things you should all be EXPECTING in your practice.  This ranges from phone conversations to case acceptance, from procedures to schedule, from collections to quality, from fun to stress.

Here’s to making more days lucky for you and for your patients, by beginning first with your expectations!
