The Year Ahead

…can be whatever you want it to be. It will be happy if you make it so. There are and will always be things that don’t go well, disappointments, setbacks. Whether they define your year or are just speed bumps you accelerate through, over, around, and continue to pursue your most worthy mission with conviction, purpose and relentless unwavering focus everyday – you will win and you must.

I have a few pieces of advice for you to share with your Team this week as we all close out another year, watch the calendar turn over and start again, fresh, anew with excited anticipation for all that’s to come and everything that’s possible.

First…set some goals, determine what you want to achieve, not just for your team and practice but for each person. As the great Zig Ziglar used to always say “You can have everything in life you want if you just help enough other people get what they want.”

So true. So profound. The only real certain way to success and significance.

Share these goals, post them up on the board, get everyone involved and for goodness sake have a plan to actually achieve them.

A real plan is broken down by benchmarks, timelines, and most importantly daily patient by patient behavior, actions, and responsibilities.

Second…have something to look forward to this year, not just work, and more of the same, whether that’s a trip, a team bonus, special surprises or gifts. Also, please encourage your team members to individually have some ‘personal pursuits’. I don’t care if it’s lose weight, buy a new car, redecorate the house, spend more time with their kids, just something that will ensure no-one gets stuck in any ruts.

You should know these things about each other. You are in a human business ran by human beings, you are a team not just ‘co-workers’. Don’t be ordinary, decide to be extraordinary and do what others don’t to have what others won’t.

Third…use us, for heaven sake I can guarantee you this, you aren’t taking advantage of everything we do. It’s certainly silly, maybe stupid. Seriously…you won’t meet any one else, any other team as committed to your success as much as we are, period, hands down, we guarantee it.

We’ll have a lot more surprises as we do every year. We practice what we preach so be on the look out, get to work, put them to use, and let no opportunity, resource, idea, support go under utilized.

It’s takes a village, as they say. You’re part of the Dental Success Today Village and we are here for you.

Fourth and finally I guess for today at least…listen up, don’t take this New Year lightly. It’s a gift. Let’s be grateful by making the most of it, by taking action in it, by not sitting back watching it pass by.

I’ll leave you with one of my favorite little saying about people.

There are three kinds of people in this world.

Those that make things happen.

Those that watch things happen.

And those that just stand around wondering “what happened?”

Obviously you want to be the first. Don’t let life happen to you, go out and happen to it – make something of it my friends. You have the power.

And hey, I’ll be back here next week on the flip side and we’ll welcome in the new year the way only we know how – flying high, pushing hard, and making magic happen!

Happy New Year to you and everyone there…let’s choose together to make it happy (very happy) and prosperous (very prosperous) New Year.
