Why Attitude Matters and How To Win With Yours!

Today, I’m going to give you the most powerful catalyst (or deterrent) to your Team’s success you will ever read about or have someone tell you. Most won’t, because they are scared or simply too politically correct. They instead prefer to tell people what they want to hear, not what is actual truth.

This week, well, every week with me, you get the truth. This week, though, you get the secret of all secrets, regarding Attitude and Success in your Practice with your people and your patients.

I must say, I was not surprised, but very happy, with the incredible amount of responses and stories I received last week about Attitude and the implication of it on the lives of so many people.

Thank you.

There are essential truths when it comes to human interaction that you can’t fight against, you can only embrace and manipulate it in a way – yes – I said manipulate, it’s not bad, look it up, it all depends on what your purpose and intention is.

I don’t want you to manipulate people, you can influence them (and you should and you must). What I do want you to do is manipulate your environment, which means to control it, your patient experience, which means to orchestrate it, your own team’s morale and ability to stay positive, which means to engineer your team for success.

The bottom line of success (that no one will ever tell you) is that there is a predictive indicator 100% based on the morale, the energy, the feel of the people (and technically the space around you) … the people who are going to carry out the day’s responsibilities.

People sense good or bad, positive or negative, confidence or uncertainty.

Patients sense all of these things too, in fact even more than others because when they come into your office their senses are already on high alert because they are in an ‘uncomfortable’ place … through no fault of your own it’s just human nature to be nervous at a doctors office … which is why you are going out of your way to make sure your practice doesn’t feel like a doctors office, doesn’t feel uncomfortable, but instead you make it the opposite of these things because it gives you a different, better energy.

However, your physical space will only get you so far – what will determine your daily success is the attitude of your team and of course your doctor.

Your attitude will act as a boomerang of thoughts, actions, energy, into the minds of your patients and you will get back whatever you are sending out.

If you believe in the treatment, if you are passionate about dentistry, if you are positive and adamant about the success and deserve level of your patients as to the diagnosis you are making and the investment you are requesting – then so will your patients – excitedly follow your guidance.

If, on the other hand, you are distracted, uncertain, in a foul mood or have low spirits then you will push away, repel, and otherwise turn off people from wanting to listen, comply, follow, accept, and definitely not invest in whatever it is you are saying and doing with your patients.

Here’s the big problem: it only takes one thing, one person, one sentence, one action, one interaction, one, one, one, one single breakdown in the office, patient experience, communication, in congruence in anything to destroy trust and erode the relationship with your patients to ensure they never follow-through with their treatment and agreement with you.

This is why attitude is everything. It all begins with attitude.

Every single day with every single person…
The question is how are you managing it, influencing it, controlling it – hopefully the only way that is actually effective, through empowerment, awareness, inspiration, and people who are real professionals who want to win, are committed to success and strive for a standard of performance that leads to victory. This doesn’t allow for emotions, moods, or even the realities of life that will always exist in and out of your practice to get in the way of helping do what’s best for patients every single day with every single one of them.

That’s what pros do and deal with every day of their lives. It’s not that they have more successful lives therefore they show up happier and win more. It’s that they take control over their attitude regardless of their day, life, feeling and they choose to find ways to win even when they aren’t so happy.

Therefore they cultivate a culture, environment and expectation of victory and excellence. As a result, they attract more of the same plus (naturally) happiness, prosperity and peace of mind as an outcome of deliberate action and positive attitude…rinse, repeat and refocus every day.
