Your Next Daily Focus – Proactivity

Here we go, another Daily Focus starting with a “P” but this is no gimmick, there is so much POWER in these words.  I have seen and heard the progress from so many teams who are taking these Daily (keyword) Focuses seriously – great work!

Everyone wants to know the “secrets” to doing more and better.  They are always looking for magic pills and easy buttons.  In the end, they waste so much effort, thought, time and energy on looking for elusive tips and tricks when it’s really adherence and commitment to DAILY FOCUSES that are simply common sense.

Today, I give you the last in this series as we will soon shift gears to a different type of focus.

If you have followed along as you should and you have taken each week of this year (can you believe how many weeks have already elapsed in 2019), and you have compounded them one on top of the next to create a very exceptional dynamic with yourself and your team – you will all be much more aware of HOW TO actually create real results for your patients and therefore your practice.

Being Present

Being Positive

Being Purposeful

Being Prepared

And now I am encouraging you to BE PROACTIVE!

Yes, if you really look at it the winners in life, the happy people, those who make an impact on others are PROACTIVE with as much as possible in their lives.  Everything from getting themselves out of bed to getting ahead of their to-do list to taking action on their goals.

I really can’t think of anything more valuable to a relationship (whether personal or professional; patients or children; and especially with yourself), than the daily focus of proactivity.

Before I make the list, it would be nice if you would make your own.  Brainstorm with your team right now about all the ways you can and should be more proactive.

For me, the list is endless but in short being proactive means that you TAKE ACTION TIMELY.  Of course there is the cliché of “not putting off until tomorrow what you should do today.” It means getting rid of and overcoming procrastination.  This applies to EVERYTHING and EVERYONE..

Tough conversations that need to be had.

Things that need to get done.

If someone hurt your feelings, proactively talk to them.

Help each other when someone is overwhelmed.

Especially this applies to patients and treatment.

I just got a written exam of a team member telling on a doctor last week (it happens all the time).  I’m going to start mandating Doctors record themselves because they complain about needing “better patients” or “more patients” when they have great patients; the doctor is just ineffective when it comes to talking about insurance, pacing out treatment, and literally diminishing patients’ opportunities to say yes and get healthy.  Essentially, going against everything we stand for.

All you have to do now is teach your patients what being proactive with their health means and why it is so incredibly important (not to mention, it saves them dentistry, money, pain and inconvenience in their future too).

Thus the point of proactivity in and of itself.  It’s doing less now instead of more later.

This can be solved very simply by the commitment to being proactive with patients’ health.  Just imagine if you were more proactive with collections, with big picture, with talking about problems and possibilities.  Just one daily focus – this one – and you will see dramatic results in case acceptance, diagnostic opportunity, referrals and everything else.

Now, if you link everyone of these first set of daily focuses together, you have something very powerful.  Be positively present, prepare, act with purpose and do these things proactively every single day with every single patients and WOW what an experience you are going to provide and a difference you are going to make.  I PROMISE YOU.

Finally for this week, make sure you ask yourself what things, people, tasks, ideas and goals you can be (for your own benefit because you deserve it) more proactive within your own life.  You owe it to yourself to do that; to start now – not tomorrow.

And as we have experienced – time flies – whether you are having fun or not.  So you might as well live proactively and at least you’ll fit a whole lot more LIFE in your days.
