If you want to know why Dentists, perhaps yourself, fall short of their potential and often even their own stated goals \u2013 I will tell you right here in this final Weekly Report of the Year.<\/p>\n
\u2026 It is because there is no real strategy or method ensuring your success.\u00a0 It\u2019s dentistry by accident, success by chance, production and profit by random acts instead of deliberate, methodical, controlled management of the outcomes that your practice creates.<\/p>\n
Of course, no Dentist wants to hear this and for some they will even say they don\u2019t want to deal with the \u2018business\u2019 or they don\u2019t care about all of that other stuff.<\/p>\n
That\u2019s like quarterbacks saying they are just going to focus on the offensive plays and spend no time studying defenses.\u00a0 Because they are the offense \u2013 why would they bother themselves with the defense when that\u2019s not what they play.<\/p>\n
Yes, this is a fundamental misunderstanding of how you win.\u00a0 Throwing tight spirals to a pre-determined location is required, but also is having an in-depth knowledge of how all other aspects create a dynamic playing environment.\u00a0 In dentistry terms, it is when you think you can completely neglect the management of your business and just focus on patients\u2019 mouths.<\/p>\n
But, that\u2019s what most dentists do, not because they don\u2019t care and not because they don\u2019t want to.\u00a0 It is often because they do not feel confident about it \u2013 they don\u2019t \u2018know\u2019 business.\u00a0 Still, this is no excuse and it will lead to total and complete sabotaging of your own results, potential and profitability.<\/p>\n
Because, by the way, the profit is all in the management and execution of the systems and the people (both patients and team members).\u00a0 Without this, you really do not have a business.\u00a0 You just have people showing up everyday going through the motions.\u00a0 Even if you have a great team, without this you will never be firing on all cylinders.<\/p>\n
There is the flip side of this though and that is the opposite of negligence, it\u2019s micro-management.\u00a0 It\u2019s always one extreme or the other.<\/p>\n
Those who do take consideration over their business tend to do it in the most detrimental, self-defeating ways you could possible choose to do it \u2013 again not because this is what they want \u2013 often it is just their nature, to be obsessive or overbearing or very particular.<\/p>\n
This is the surest and fastest way to get in your own way and to suppress your team members\u2019 potential and squash their desire to excel and take initiative.<\/p>\n
Again, I\u2019ll use the football analogy as the season concludes and the championship caliber teams reveal themselves.<\/p>\n
What you will notice is that every great Quarterback is capable of MANAGING THE GAME \u2013 in fact every aspect of it: the clock, the line, the plays, reading the defense and even preparing beforehand; all to ensure success.<\/p>\n
As we turn the page on another year, whether football player or doctor, we all share one goal\u2026 to be our own best, to reach our potential, to make ourselves and those you love proud and above all else to pursue your vision and fulfill your purpose.<\/p>\n
We can agree on this\u2026<\/p>\n
There are never two years the same.\u00a0 That\u2019s life.\u00a0 Always changing, evolving, unpredictable\u2026<\/p>\n
But.\u00a0 That.\u00a0 Is.\u00a0 Life.\u00a0 Not Business.<\/p>\n
In business the results you achieve in 2018 and everything you get out of this new year is completely within your control.<\/p>\n
You simply have to manage your way to victory.<\/p>\n
We have discussed your belief, your leadership, your vision and now we must manage our way to success.\u00a0 NOT \u201cmanage\u201d in the sense of the word as you know it.\u00a0 Instead we want to control the game you are playing so you get the results and outcomes you desire and deserve!<\/p>\n
