{"id":1117,"date":"2018-05-04T16:39:03","date_gmt":"2018-05-04T16:39:03","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/dentalsuccesstoday.com\/blog\/?p=1117"},"modified":"2018-05-04T16:39:03","modified_gmt":"2018-05-04T16:39:03","slug":"how-to-build-trust-with-your-patients","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dentalsuccesstoday.com\/blog\/how-to-build-trust-with-your-patients\/","title":{"rendered":"How To Build Trust With Your Patients"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I say many things that shock Dentists hearing them for the very first time.\u00a0 Things like\u2026<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s not all about new patients.<\/p>\n<p>You don\u2019t have to be in network.<\/p>\n<p>You can collect full fees up front the day you present (not do) treatment.<\/p>\n<p>You really can work less and make more, a lot more.<\/p>\n<p>Your gross revenue can become your personal income <span class=\"aBn\" tabindex=\"0\" data-term=\"goog_147901349\"><span class=\"aQJ\">in 12 months<\/span><\/span> or less.<\/p>\n<p>Anything in Dentistry is possible.<\/p>\n<p>The thing that I say that shocks people the most is when I say that I do not worry about Corporate Dentistry \u2013 not at all \u2013 because the more corporate practices there are, the better it will be for the independent, relationship-based, concierge, private practice.<\/p>\n<p>Doctors, maybe you, just can\u2019t understand why I say that.\u00a0 It\u2019s true.\u00a0 I prove it, actually my doctors prove it, every single day with every single patient.<\/p>\n<p>First of all, it doesn\u2019t matter how many patients you have or how many patients you get, it only matters how many patients say yes.\u00a0 You make money from the number and the size of the yeses, not from the volume and quantity of mouths.<\/p>\n<p>And it is true that corporate dentistry expands the industry.\u00a0 They help to get more people going to the dentist than would otherwise go; due to their cheap gimmicky advertising, their insurance manipulation and commoditization, and their giant budgets.<\/p>\n<p>This is because they are NOT in the \u2018dental\u2019 business and certainly NOT in the patient care or relationship business.\u00a0 They are ONLY in the money \/ investment \/ percentage of profit business.<\/p>\n<p>They don\u2019t need 30% profit to fund their lifestyles (average dentist).\u00a0 They couldn\u2019t possibly, even if they tried, achieve 40-60% PROFIT (like my doctors do, routinely).\u00a0 They have razor thin margins because they are in the \u201clittle from a lot\u201d business.<\/p>\n<p>You are (or at least should be), in \u201ca lot from a little\u201d or \u201ca lot from a lot\u201d if you want; but not a little from anything (volume of one tooth at a time, insurance reimbursement check after another, churn \u2018em and burn \u2018em dentistry).<\/p>\n<p>Therefore, the more patients experience Corporate Style Dentistry, the more Patients seek out, look for, want a real relationship with a Dental practice, a family, a place they can call their Dental Home and they can actually go to get something done.<\/p>\n<p>At the end of the day, there is one REASON above all others \u2013 if you do it right, if you commit to it, if you truly embrace what I\u2019m about to say \u2013 that you do NOT have to fear or ever worry about Corporate Dentistry again.\u00a0 Even if they are in your city, down the street, or coming to a location near you in the future (and rest assured they are).<\/p>\n<p>Heck, your best friend dentist colleague in town could become your worst enemy in concept because they just might sellout one day.\u00a0 Hopefully you are never in the position where you HAVE TO sell to the Enemy and you can keep your integrity intact along with your legacy long after you retire, stop, move on, ride off into the sunset from your active dental practice ownership career.<\/p>\n<p>There is one thing that Corporate Practices never have that you can have and it ties into relationship based care and ultimately boils down to one word\u2026<\/p>\n<p>TRUST.<\/p>\n<p>No one trusts a corporation.\u00a0 Do you?\u00a0 Facebook?\u00a0 Uber?\u00a0 Heck even GE?\u00a0 Doesn\u2019t mean you like or dislike.\u00a0 That wasn\u2019t the question \u2013 TRUST is the question.\u00a0 Take a look at \u201cAmerica\u2019s Company\u201d stock (GE) and tell me how much \u2018trust\u2019 there is in that once dominate \u2018in every household\u2019 consumer brand.<\/p>\n<p>Because Corporate Entities Are PROFIT DRIVEN \u2013 NOT Customer DRIVEN.<\/p>\n<p>Corporate Dentistry is PROFIT DRIVEN \u2013 NOT PATIENT DRIVEN.<\/p>\n<p>Rest assured, you can be BOTH.\u00a0 You, in this case, MUST BE BOTH.\u00a0 Profit and Patient Driven.\u00a0 I\u2019m going to show you how and we are going to talk through every nuance and every point of significance that will allow you to be exactly that.<\/p>\n<p>So, let\u2019s begin on this journey of putting patients first and getting more yeses by cultivating and creating more trust\u2026 in your environment, in your language, in your experience, in your diagnosis, in your treatment planning, in your scheduling, in your overall relationship.<\/p>\n<p>When you do this it\u2019s magical.\u00a0 Literally.\u00a0 And you will not just say \u2018you have a patient driven practice,\u2019 you will live it and your patients will know it.\u00a0 They will want to support you, pay you, refer to you and stay with you.<\/p>\n<p>They will never feel this loyalty for corporate dentistry, ever.<\/p>\n<p>Next week, we will move into why trust matters so much.\u00a0 We\u2019ll define what it is and how it impacts dentistry and patients\u2019 preconceived ideas.<\/p>\n<p>This week, you can think deeply about your practice right now and what you believe about how patients see you, make buying and treatment decisions with you, and take an assessment of just how personal your practice, care, experience, relationships really are with your patients.<\/p>\n<p>Trust is nurtured and cultivated out of many things.\u00a0 To name a few\u2026<\/p>\n<p>Empathy, Transparency, Proof, Validation, Listening, Reassurance, Understanding<\/p>\n<p>All of these come from:<\/p>\n<p>Consistent and Congruent Communication and<\/p>\n<p>Genuine and Authentic Relationship<\/p>\n<p>The final \u2018truth\u2019 I will leave you with this week is to know that with every single action, communication, interaction and engagement, you are either enhancing or diminishing trust with your patients.<\/p>\n<p>Next week, I\u2019m excited to begin a very special Weekly Report series all about<\/p>\n<p>this journey you take your patients on and how you can better build trust to create case acceptance and more importantly than that create real relationship with your patients.\u00a0 This will forever be the advantage over the rise of corporate dentistry and you will be able to help more people because you\u2019ll be getting more yeses.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I say many things that shock Dentists hearing them for the very first time.\u00a0 Things like\u2026 It\u2019s not all about new patients.
