In Last Friday’s\u00a0Weekly Report, I began a segment about having meaningful and purposeful patient interactions. \u00a0In communication, in diagnosis and in general to begin building relationships and creating trust.<\/p>\n

I laid out exactly how important it is to have an effective Huddle every day that drives this very thing \u2013 the purposefulness of your teamwork towards your patients and thereby your goals. \u00a0I know mostly our Doctors read the Weekly Reports on Fridays so I wanted to extend this team wide, since it is very important.<\/p>\n

Keeping with my theme of \u201cP\u201d words (oddly there are a lot of them), this one is directly connected to the previous two\u2026<\/p>\n

Be Present.<\/p>\n

Be Positive.<\/p>\n

Be Purposeful.<\/p>\n

Here\u2019s the thing: if you don\u2019t act, think and talk with Purpose \u2013 then you shouldn\u2019t be on the team and definitely shouldn\u2019t be taking care of other human beings.<\/p>\n

Think about other places where you\u2019ve witnessed customers not being treated with purpose. \u00a0It happens just about everywhere. \u00a0You see social conversations, cell phone use, facebook checking and an environment where it appears that the people are focused on anything but the customer. \u00a0In fact, the customers are more of an inconvenience, instead of the point and purpose.<\/p>\n

You must be different. \u00a0It takes the best to really put their focus \u2013 their moment by moment focus \u2013 on the \u201ccustomer.\u201d<\/p>\n

I know this is you. \u00a0I know you truly care for your patients. \u00a0You just can\u2019t take that for granted and ever become complacent.<\/p>\n

You have to resist the urge to be distracted or take the easy road or do \u201cless than\u201d just because no one will notice. \u00a0And, the truth is, the patient might not even notice the difference \u2013 but you will. \u00a0Use that to monitor yourself and to hold your own actions accountable.<\/p>\n

There is nothing that will be more effective for improving patient outcomes, getting more yeses and hitting your goals than being more purposeful.<\/p>\n

This week, I\u2019m going to let you define what that means to you and your team.<\/p>\n

I want you to talk about this and be specific where, how and when you can improve. \u00a0We all are capable of being more purposeful with our interactions and our communication with patients.<\/p>\n

Now, let\u2019s flip that coin over and understand that more so than patients you have each other \u2013 and your purposeful interaction with each other \u2013 leads to either making everyone more effective or less effective with patients.<\/p>\n

The team\u2019s commitment to being purposeful with one another about helping out, about conversations, about even disagreements and especially about the next two week\u2019s Daily Focuses we will be going over.<\/p>\n

There is much to dissect and discuss on this topic. \u00a0I challenge you to bundle the last three weeks together and really elevate your expectations of yourself and your team. \u00a0Remember, all objectives and desired outcomes with your patients first and always start with \u2013 YOU!<\/p>\n\"\"<\/a>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
