If you really study the last several Weekly Reports, you will see an underlying theme that ties into one of my core principles in life and business. \u00a0It takes the concept of being proactive to an entirely new and more advanced (and therefore valuable) level.<\/p>\n

This is summarized by my belief that the single greatest way to solve problems is to prevent them from happening in the first place.<\/p>\n

You already understand this. \u00a0To you, that sounds like common sense but, as I said to you last week, you know what they say about common sense\u2026 it is not all that common.<\/p>\n

Well, to that point, most practices are triaging problems, team members putting out fires, doctors disappointed in goals that haven\u2019t happened, schedules that aren\u2019t what they should be, patients that don\u2019t show up, and so on and so forth.<\/p>\n

Everything is backwards. \u00a0Trying to fix something that is broken instead of ensuring it doesn\u2019t break. \u00a0Ask any team member and, if they are honest, they invest more of their \u2018non direct patient contact time\u2019 fixing things that should have been done properly in the first place.<\/p>\n

This goes for incorrect insurance information or incomplete details over the phone or treatment plans without deposits or blocks of time in the schedule that are done with negligence.<\/p>\n

I don\u2019t mean to nitpick but the point is there are a whole lot of things that could be prevented. Then no time, attention, and energy would be wasted.<\/p>\n

When you open up and look behind the scenes of my pre-education and welcome process approach, the triangles of trust, and presenting big picture total health and comprehensive dentistry, it really is all about aligning everything in your practice to be done with deliberate and proactive control so that you are creating the results you want.<\/p>\n

We can talk all about beginning with the end in mind, setting bigger goals, and you deciding how you really want to practice \u2013 but it\u2019s all talk if there isn\u2019t a plan that makes it happen. \u00a0There must be specific things done to cultivate and manifest exactly what you want.<\/p>\n

Every time I have the privilege of meeting a new Doctor (no matter how successful they are or their average daily production or their annual profits), I can stump them with just a few questions on something that they are just letting happen.<\/p>\n

I have ask this before and I will ask this again:<\/p>\n

When there is something you want to improve, change, eliminate, or do differently \u2013 what exactly are you doing about it to make it your reality and deliver the results on demand?<\/p>\n

There is always something that can be done.<\/p>\n

This is where we are headed next in our upcoming Reports. \u00a0I\u2019m going to take you through a series of \u201cCause and Effect\u201d scenarios tied to the most common challenges (requests) I receive from my Doctors. \u00a0You will find enlightenment in every one of them.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s quite simple. \u00a0For every effect (result) you want there is a cause (action, decision, strategy) that will lead to and be responsible for stimulating it.<\/p>\n

In business, our goal is to determine what these are and then solidify them into place as integrated systems and committed protocols that then have consistent execution.<\/p>\n

Read that sentence again because in it lays the secrets to dental practice ownership success.<\/p>\n

I chuckled at one of my most recent trainings with twenty of some of our most advanced Practices. \u00a0If they would take every business decision, system, and team member responsibility as seriously as they do a clinical procedure, outcome, or protocol, everything would go a whole lot better.<\/p>\n

Here\u2019s what I have to say\u2026 a decision or new protocol or anything that has been put in place into your practice is not supposed to be an optional \u2018whenever possible\u2019 or \u2018when you feel like it\u2019 rule to follow. \u00a0There must be structured accountability and commitment to consistent execution and follow-through.<\/p>\n

When this is lacking there are gaps and holes in every patient experience and therefore in treatment acceptance which produces less valuable than it should be daily schedules. \u00a0Because most practices\u2019 collections are tied to their schedule and production instead of their case acceptance and presentation on the front end they fall into a cycle of status quo and end up frustrated.<\/p>\n

Success is really not that hard. \u00a0It can be made simple when you follow the cause and effect approach to the business of dentistry; no different than the health of the patient and that is where we will pick up our conversation next week.<\/p>\n

In the meantime, I have two things for you to do\u2026<\/p>\n
