We are going to align your business model to match your entrepreneurial vision \u2013 what you set out for when you became a private practice, independent doctor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>What I want to say to you is that you&#8217;re not in the dental business. In fact, you&#8217;re in three completely different businesses that are all integrated into one.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Here is where most doctors go wrong:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>They confuse dentistry <em>the business<\/em> with dentistry the <em>vehicle<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Dentistry is the vehicle and you\u2019re taking this vehicle somewhere you want to. Don\u2019t think of it as just a destination (yes, you will arrive at the place you intended) but it\u2019s also the journey along the way. This is the life you are creating while doing dentistry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>So, ask yourself\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Where is dentistry taking me? Where is this vehicle taking me?<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The place you\u2019re going, the life you are leading \u2013 that\u2019s the ultimate vision. That\u2019s what matters here.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Is dentistry moving you closer to your <em>State of Ideal <\/em>every single day? Closer to your goals, your dreams, your aspirations? Or is it driving you further away from them?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>So you need to ask yourself whether <em>dentistry the vehicle<\/em> is actually elevating and enhancing your quality of life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Because that\u2019s exactly what you do for others. You\u2019re in the business of helping people improve their health and their quality of life <em>every single day<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But here\u2019s the thing: who\u2019s helping <em>you<\/em>?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you\u2019re delivering quality of life to others, but your own is suffering \u2013 well, that\u2019s out of alignment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You\u2019ve got to get back in alignment. And it requires you make a mental shift to redefine what it means to own and operate your dental practice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You are in control, you have the power, and you can make the necessary shift.&nbsp; That means you must stop confusing the <em>vehicle, the modality<\/em> with the <em>business<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>It\u2019s A Shift Every Entrepreneurial Doctor Must Embrace<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>You \u2013 as an entrepreneur \u2013 need to embrace this mental shift. Because the business you\u2019re really in is a trifecta, an equilateral triangle where all sides are equal and all sides must work together.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Here\u2019s the trifecta:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>First \u2013 you\u2019re in the <em>people business<\/em>.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>That\u2019s relationships you have with your team and with your patients.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you don\u2019t understand that you\u2019re in the people business, nothing else works.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Second \u2013 you\u2019re in the <em>money business<\/em>.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Now this one is simple: the money business is about profit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You can have all the collections in the world, all the production in the world, all the activity in the world, but if you\u2019re burning through it and not getting where you want to go \u2013 then it\u2019s not advancing you towards your goals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It\u2019s the difference between walking on a treadmill and walking along a path. You can be running fast on that treadmill \u2013 producing, collecting, busy, busy, busy \u2013 but ultimately you\u2019re going nowhere.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Or\u2026 you can instead be moving forward as you do in real life where every step gets you closer and closer.&nbsp; It\u2019s a journey built by every experience, every moment, every memory done on purpose, by design.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>THAT is the business I want you in. Where every day your practice is generating profit that funds a life lived on purpose, by design.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And that leads to my favorite \u2013 the precise path you are following along\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Third \u2013 you\u2019re in the <em>life business<\/em>.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This is what I do for all my doctors. I help them define not just a business plan for their practice (there are only four leverage points in dentistry, after all), but a <em>vision plan for their lives.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Because <em>that<\/em> is what gives the practice significance. When the practice exists to fuel the life you truly want, that\u2019s when you win.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Yet so few doctors think FIRST about the life they want to lead and what\u2019s necessary to bring it to realization.&nbsp; Most take whatever time and energy is left over after leaving practice and deciding what to do with it.&nbsp; It\u2019s completely backwards.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Think of it this way:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you\u2019re a professional athlete and you just played the regular seasons every year but there was no championship, what\u2019s the point?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The point isn\u2019t the seasons \u2013 it\u2019s the championships. It\u2019s crowning a victor at the end so all of the games have merit and meaning. There has to be a culmination. There has to be a purpose to the activity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In your life, your culmination might be based on the age of your kids or grandkids. It might be based on YOU, your personal ambitions, your hobbies, your travel goals, your next business venture.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It might be based on working by <em>choice<\/em>, not necessity. It might be based on loving what you do so much you never want to leave it because you are doing it on your terms. It might be based on <em>lifestyle<\/em> along the way.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>That\u2019s the life business.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And this is why I want you to really grasp this point, because that is what entrepreneurial dentistry is all about.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It\u2019s not about the dentistry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It\u2019s about the <em>three businesses<\/em> that come together into one.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The dental practice is the vehicle \u2013 the modality that facilitates your people business, your money business, and your life business.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>The Question You Must Answer<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>So, now the question becomes:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Do you have a business plan for your <em>people<\/em> \u2013 the patients coming in for treatments and for the team members who help&nbsp; you serving them once they are there?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Do you have a business plan for your <em>money <\/em>\u2013 how profit is made and extracted from the practice to fund your wealth and lifestyle?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And most importantly\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>do you have a business plan for your <em>life <\/em>\u2013 the reason why you are doing all of this?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Those, my friends, are the businesses you are <em>really<\/em> in.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And that should be the most exciting thing you\u2019ve ever heard in your entire life. Because it means there\u2019s a bigger mission here. A bigger vision here. A bigger purpose here.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It\u2019s not about doing more dentistry. It\u2019s not about cranking out more procedures, seeing more patients, filling more teeth, doing more surgery.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The dentistry is just the <em>vehicle<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Next, we are going to take the wheel and drive it exactly where YOU want it to go.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I&#8217;m really excited to take you on a little journey and we&#8217;re going to do this in a few parts.
