Magic Is Influence.<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Today, what I want to share with you boils down to one powerful idea:&nbsp;<strong>influence<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I\u2019ve always loved magic. But not just the Disney kind. I\u2019m talking about real-life magic, because\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Influence is magic. Magic is influence.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Think about it: what does a magician actually do? They influence you to believe something. Whether through illusion, sleight of hand, or pure misdirection, they transfer belief to the audience. That\u2019s why they call them \u201cmagic tricks.\u201d It\u2019s really about creating a shift in perspective.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And I\u2019d like to suggest something bold: <strong>You are a magician<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>The 5 Steps to Influence: Your Real-Life Magic Formula<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Let me walk you through the steps. As I do, think about how this shows up in your practice (whether on the phone, in intake, during diagnostics, or in the delivery of care).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>1.&nbsp;Start with a Vision of the Outcome<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Every magician starts by showing you where things are headed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You start by planting subconscious seeds \u2013 by sharing the goals, the destination, the result. That vision is the anchor. It gives the brain something to hold onto.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>2.&nbsp;Begin with Reality<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Then you bring them back down to earth. Grounded. Believable. Real.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This is where you use the&nbsp;<strong>three Ps<\/strong>: <strong>Pictures<\/strong>, <strong>Proof<\/strong>, <strong>Pain<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In diagnostics, that means asking the right questions to get the patient to understand where they are today. But you always start with the vision. Then reality. Then back again by\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>3.&nbsp;Cast the Future<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Now that they\u2019re grounded, you bring the future back into focus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sometimes the future means, \u201cHere\u2019s what happens if nothing changes.\u201d Other times, \u201cHere\u2019s what\u2019s possible if everything does.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This is where you choose what kind of influence you&#8217;re going to have. And remember people won\u2019t invest in a future they don\u2019t believe in.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>So the future vision must be&nbsp;<strong>inspiring<\/strong> and <strong>motivating<\/strong>, it has to spark belief.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>4.&nbsp;Bridge the Gap<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>In magic, this is the moment the trick happens.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The majority of the setup has been building toward this. Now comes the \u201cmisdirection\u201d \u2026 not in a deceptive way, but in a transformative one.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This is where we show the pathway forward.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In dentistry, the \u201ctrick\u201d might be a demo, a conversation, an education, or getting the patient to verbalize how their life would change. This is where the flip happens.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>5.&nbsp;The Clinical YES<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>This final step is where belief becomes action.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>That\u2019s when the patient says \u201cyes\u201d not because they\u2019ve been convinced, but because they\u2019ve been influenced. Because they now believe in a better future.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This five-step sequence applies in every part of the patient journey. From the first phone call to the moment they leave the chair.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Your Practice Is a Stage where Every Day Is a Performance<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>This doesn\u2019t just happen in clinical settings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It happens in: how your front desk handles calls, how your team presents care, how you lead huddles, how you respond to objections.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Every moment is a moment of influence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And this is what separates transactional practices from transformational ones.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Each patient interaction represents a choice:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Do you play small or do you expand what people believe is possible?
