Suddenly we&#8217;ve got green shirts, goofy hats, little shamrocks everywhere, and we&#8217;re all pretending we&#8217;ve got a secret to generating luck. However, you don&#8217;t have to find a four-leaf clover, carry a rabbit&#8217;s foot, or own a little charm.<\/p>\n<p>We fool ourselves though. We use the word &#8220;luck&#8221; all the time. We say things like, &#8220;We got lucky with that patient,&#8221; or &#8220;We got unlucky with cancellations,&#8221; or &#8220;I&#8217;m just unlucky because nothing goes my way.&#8221; We throw the word around like luck is this external thing floating in the air that randomly chooses who it likes and who it doesn&#8217;t.<\/p>\n<p>A lot of what we call luck is really just perception and perspective. Now, I&#8217;m not na\u00efve. I know unexpected things happen\u2026 real problems, bad timing, or sometimes you do everything &#8220;right&#8221; and things still don&#8217;t go the way you wanted.<\/p>\n<p>But here&#8217;s the part nobody can argue with: <strong>The only type of luck you can count on is the kind you create.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The thoughts you allow into your mind, what you choose to focus on, what you expect, what you interpret, what you rehearse in your head, and what you decide is true about yourself and your future\u2026 those things are shaping your results long before you ever see them on a schedule or in a huddle.<\/p>\n<p>You&#8217;ve heard me say, &#8220;What you focus on, you get more of.&#8221; You&#8217;ve heard me say, &#8220;What you think about, you become.&#8221; Those phrases are only cheesy until you realize they&#8217;re accurate. They&#8217;re describing something very real: you become what you repeatedly practice in your mind and in your behavior.<\/p>\n<p>But I want to take this even deeper, because this is where it gets powerful.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Every day, you decide in advance whether it&#8217;s going to be a good day or a bad day; a lucky day or unlucky day.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Unlucky people wait for the day to happen and then decide whether they liked it. They let other people&#8217;s moods define their mood. They let problems define their identity. They let one inconvenience become the headline of the entire day.<\/p>\n<p>Lucky people do the opposite. They don&#8217;t wait for the day to tell them who they are going to be. They decide who they are going to be and then they bring that person into the day. They set the day up for success before it even begins, and if something goes sideways (flat tire, sickness, weather, a disgruntled person, a schedule curveball), they don&#8217;t let one moment hijack the whole story.<\/p>\n<p>Lucky people do not have perfect lives. They are not problem-free. They are not stress-free. They are not living in some magical bubble where everything always goes their way.<\/p>\n<p>The difference is their attitude. Their perspective. Their presence.<\/p>\n<p>They have learned how to be emotionally steady even when life isn&#8217;t. They have learned how to stay constructive even when things are inconvenient. They have learned how to remain solution-focused instead of getting addicted to the drama of the problem.<\/p>\n<p>And from the outside, people look at them and say, &#8220;Wow, you&#8217;re so lucky.&#8221; Or they&#8217;ll say, &#8220;Everything always works out for you.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>But the truth is the &#8220;charm&#8221; isn&#8217;t in their pocket. It&#8217;s in their mindset. It&#8217;s in their habits. It&#8217;s in the way they interpret life. It&#8217;s in the way they respond.<\/p>\n<p>Which means the real lucky charm was never something they found. <strong>It was something they created.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>So here are three practical ways to create more luck in your life, starting this week:<\/p>\n<p><strong>First, be around more people who are the way you want to be.<\/strong> If you spend time around people who are negative, cynical, and constantly &#8220;unlucky,&#8221; you will slowly start to see life the way they see life. But if you spend time around people who are driven, positive, solution-focused, and purposeful, you will start to rise.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Second, become the kind of person who notices opportunities.<\/strong> Some people see problems everywhere. Other people see opportunities everywhere. And the funny part is, both groups think they&#8217;re right. The difference isn&#8217;t the world; the difference is the lens. Opportunity is always around you.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Third, when you feel stuck, move.<\/strong> So many people who feel unlucky aren&#8217;t unlucky at all \u2013 they&#8217;re stagnant. They&#8217;re waiting. They&#8217;re hesitating. They&#8217;re overthinking. And the truth is, <strong>luck loves motion.<\/strong> When you take action, things start to open up. When you move forward, you discover new options. When you make progress, you build confidence. Momentum is one of the greatest &#8220;lucky charms&#8221; on earth.<\/p>\n<p>So let&#8217;s have some fun with this this week. Tomorrow is St. Patrick&#8217;s Day, and I want us to use it as a trigger not for superstition, but for intention. Here&#8217;s what I want each of you to do:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Write down one thing you&#8217;re going to do this week to create your own luck.<\/strong> Not hope for it. Create it. Maybe it&#8217;s looking for one opportunity with a patient you would have missed before. Maybe it&#8217;s choosing to stay positive when something inconvenient happens. Write it down. Make it specific.<\/p>\n<p>Next, share it with one other person on the team. Say it out loud. &#8220;This week, I&#8217;m creating my own luck by&#8230;&#8221; When you say it out loud, it becomes real. Then, at the end of the week, notice what happened. Did the thing you committed to change your day? Did it change your energy?
