Momentum, hitting your stride, the sweet spot where everything just seems so effortless, like it\u2019s all going your way\u2026it\u2019s a great feeling isn\u2019t it?! Feeling unstoppable, the planet\u2019s aligning, all Patients saying yes, smiling, happy, feeding off your energy. The way it\u2019s supposed to be.<\/p>\n

I repeat, the way it\u2019s supposed to be.<\/p>\n

My Grandmaster in Martial Arts used to always tell me\u2026\u201dScott, you have to ride the waves of life\u2026\u201d And when things weren\u2019t always going so well and I would lose faith or become frustrated he would always reassure me, \u201cYour wave is coming, the tide is low right now, it will come back, it always does and your job is to be ready for the big waves and to make the most of them.\u201d<\/p>\n

I just love that analogy.<\/p>\n

Life is so much like the ocean, always in motion, waves always there, some big or some small, but always so reliable\u2026and so is opportunity, to be positive, to make something happen, to change, to do good, to be reminded of what\u2019s important \u2013 to create momentum.<\/p>\n

You ought to have a picture of the ocean in your break room; one calm and still, the other with a big wave breaking so that you remember that today some patient, at least one (probably many), will be your wave of momentum to help make them healthy and to help lead your team to it\u2019s goals with a victory today.<\/p>\n

Being ready, expectant, alert, a creator and always focused on paying attention to where you can begin to build momentum and ride the wave to success.<\/p>\n

Last week we talked about Motivation\u2026how it\u2019s both essential and fleeting\u2026and today we are talking about Momentum\u2026these are two things that go hand in hand, like your left and right arm, like the front and the back, like success and money, like love and happiness.<\/p>\n

You can\u2019t have one without the other.<\/p>\n

If you are lacking motivation, you\u2019ll never be ready for or create any momentum.<\/p>\n

If you are not capitalizing on momentum, you will leave yourself in an uphill battle to feel ever motivated to achieve anything, to keep going, or to be victorious.<\/p>\n

Your goal everyday should be to look for little waves you can turn into bigger waves, motivation that can serve as catalyst to create and instigate momentum.<\/p>\n

When I teach the art of the New Patient Experience that leads to advanced patient psychology and case diagnosing, it\u2019s all about the building of momentum with your Patients to both keep control of the experience and outcome, and also keep building the motivation of the Patient to do what\u2019s best for them and what they ultimately deserve.<\/p>\n

If you wait for Patients to be motivated, you\u2019re going to be disappointed daily\u2026if you help them to become motivated and then use momentum to drive and control their experience you will compel them forward with their health and achieve greater case acceptance, every time.<\/p>\n

Hurky-jerky fragmented experiences or incongruent processes will kill you every time. You need momentum.<\/p>\n

Your focus this week should be to teach the team to ride the waves and look for the good. Remember, we get more of what we focus on, it replicates. So, discipline yourself to be attracted to and wanting more of the good stuff \u2013 the momentum builders.<\/p>\n

When good things are happening, keep going, take chances, feel the energy, keep on moving. There is a famous saying that says this \u2013 \u201cMotion beats meditation\u201d \u2013 you want to be in motion during your day, making things happen not just watching them or letting them happen.<\/p>\n

Motivation leads to momentum, momentum leads to more motivation and well, that\u2019s the whole point, around and around we go, building, compounding, creating and growing. Ultimately, this is the key to everything, every human interaction and every successful day, week, month, and year in your dental practice.<\/p>\n

Go make it happen, find those waves and enjoy the ride\u2026<\/p>\n
