Tis\u2019 the season to start gearing up for the New Year. I can only hope you do not squander this month by just settling to make ends meet. Instead, you should be in a position to use it proactively and productively to set yourself up for an amazing start to January and the next year.<\/p>\n

I wonder when the last time was that you looked at your schedule and really analyzed why your days are worth what they are and if there is anything you could do to rearrange or reorganize the dentistry in your day to equal a higher number.<\/p>\n

This requires foresight and taking time to review the days and weeks in the future.<\/p>\n

Last week, we talked about what your \u2018every single morning\u2019 huddle should be in order to make the day as profitable as possible and to secure as much treatment as is available in order to help your patients get healthy.<\/p>\n

Next week, I\u2019m going to walk you through the steps needed to set up your 2017 to be your biggest growth year ever. Of course, it is a balancing act focusing on the future while you are working in the present. That is the same balancing act you face in all parts of life and especially every day with your patients.<\/p>\n

If there were one major setback or problem that I see in the daily flow of patients and team member engagement it is this\u2026<\/p>\n

We get caught up in doing the dentistry that has already been diagnosed, or cleaning the teeth in a hygiene visit, or being so caught up in the details that we don\u2019t move beyond what is already happening to focus on what is suppose to happen next.<\/p>\n

Many people\u2019s minds default to a single tooth, or a single problem, or a single visit, without taking time to look at the whole mouth, or look at the cause and the why a problem exist, or look at how much other dentistry could be done during the next visit or a series of visits.<\/p>\n

Taking anything \u2018a step at a time\u2019 leaves so much room for error, room for patients minds to change, room for people to not come back, room for money to be lost or go uncollected, room for conversations and diagnosis to get shelved until a later time or never.<\/p>\n

I promise you this, if you will train yourself to be future focused and always do what is needed today while paying attention to what needs to be done for tomorrow, you will win and win big. With this approach, you\u2019ll help people by always being in the habit of \u2018what\u2019s next\u2019 not what \u2018is already\u2019.<\/p>\n
