Over the past few weeks we have discussed the most talked about profit source in all practices \u2013 the specialty niches.<\/p>\n

I love these because they are based on what you want, what excites you, what you are passionate about.<\/p>\n

And if there is one thing you must embrace and admit to: it\u2019s if you aren\u2019t fired up about it, focused on it, committed to it \u2013 then you sure aren\u2019t going to get very many patients to be either.<\/p>\n

While I don\u2019t insist that you \u2018have to\u2019 do this, as there is plenty of profit and growth opportunity in doing life-changing cosmetic dentistry and leaving all key niches to others\u2026<\/p>\n

I do believe in order to serve the patient properly and effectively you have to, at the very least, be able to treatment plan (if not actually do) integrative mutli-disciplinary dentistry.<\/p>\n

Whether that is under one roof as a \u201cSuper Dentist\u201d or it\u2019s incorporating other Specialists into your patients\u2019 care and relationship (like all other doctors have to do).\u00a0 You must understand that comprehensive care doesn\u2019t just mean what you do \u2013 it means what\u2019s best for the patient.<\/p>\n

At the same time, many doctors take me way too literally on the whole \u201cbig case\u201d or \u201coptimal\u201d or \u201ccomprehensive\u201d care approach to patients and treatment.\u00a0 No patient has to do what you tell them and they don\u2019t want to do what you force upon them.<\/p>\n

You goal is to help patients expand their belief of what optimal is and that they deserve it.<\/p>\n

Your patients\u2019 ideas of optimal.<\/p>\n

Your patients\u2019 definitions of comprehensive.<\/p>\n

Your patients\u2019 vision of their mouths.<\/p>\n

That is what you are able to do.\u00a0 Most leave way too much dentistry in the mouths of their patients because of three key things\u2026<\/p>\n

    \n
  1. Lack of awareness<\/li>\n
  2. Lack of education<\/li>\n
  3. Lack of systems<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    The first is you and your team, the second is your patients, and the third is the overall experience, training and protocols to cultivate it.<\/p>\n

    Whether you incorporate any specialty (ortho, laser, implants, tmj, sleep, etc.); know this: incorporating a multiple disciplinary approach to your treatment planning and care is not optional anymore if you want to break out of the volume trap.<\/p>\n

    There are so many benefits to you.\u00a0 However, the key are the benefits to your patients.\u00a0 This is what I call life changing care \u2013 complete health, function and appearance goes beyond just their teeth and gums.<\/p>\n

    Practices embracing this philosophy find incredible surges in three most critical areas: 1) acceptance, 2) profit and 3) referrals.\u00a0 What else could you ask for?!<\/p>\n

    I work with the top doctors in just about every niche in dentistry.\u00a0 Pick a category and the leading educator or more importantly doer is a client or friend and I serve as advisor to them.<\/p>\n
