{"id":985,"date":"2017-10-30T14:01:55","date_gmt":"2017-10-30T14:01:55","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/dentalsuccesstoday.com\/blog\/?p=985"},"modified":"2017-10-30T14:01:55","modified_gmt":"2017-10-30T14:01:55","slug":"the-frightening-thoughts-in-your-patients-minds","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dentalsuccesstoday.com\/blog\/the-frightening-thoughts-in-your-patients-minds\/","title":{"rendered":"The Frightening Thoughts In Your Patients&#8217; Minds"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span class=\"aBn\" tabindex=\"0\" data-term=\"goog_1487083272\"><span class=\"aQJ\">Tomorrow<\/span><\/span> is the big day.\u00a0 The largest adult holiday of the year.\u00a0 Can you believe that?\u00a0 More money, celebration, activities and everything else spent on this by adults than any other holiday.\u00a0 And to think this was originally for kids.<\/p>\n<p>I hope you have some great plans for yourself and your family <span class=\"aBn\" tabindex=\"0\" data-term=\"goog_1487083273\"><span class=\"aQJ\">tomorrow<\/span><\/span>.\u00a0 And I hope you are including your patients in the fun too because they like that.\u00a0 It makes you different and memorable.<\/p>\n<p>People want to be around people who make them feel good, feel better, feel happy.\u00a0 Your practice and your patient engagement needs to be about more than just teeth and dentistry.<\/p>\n<p>If you embrace what I\u2019m saying you will be amazed at how your referrals will grow in volume, improve in quality and become more consistent.\u00a0 Naturally, you will watch your retention improve and increase as well.<\/p>\n<p>Nobody wants to go to a same-as-everybody-else, mundane, clinical smelling, feeling, even looking like place \u2013 and if they do, they darn sure aren\u2019t going to tell anybody else.<\/p>\n<p>I didn\u2019t say it has to be like the Ritz Carlton.\u00a0 I said it has to be fun.\u00a0 Different.\u00a0 Memorable.\u00a0 Both in your experiences, your interaction, your follow-up, your friendliness and of course your clinical care and outcomes.<\/p>\n<p>Today, as you prepare for Halloween, I\u2019ll remind you of a short list of scary things your patients think about before, during and after they visit you.\u00a0 Your ability and willingness to manage, offset, counteract, be transparent with and help your patients through these thoughts will, in and of themselves, ensure that\u00a0 you are different and you will make your patients more comfortable with you.<\/p>\n<p>Frightening thoughts patients say to themselves\u2026<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhat are they going to find?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey always find something.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s going to be expensive.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDo I really need that?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDID I really need that?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis place smells funny.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI really hate that buzzing sound.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI dread my appointment because\u2026\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s going to hurt\u2026 they say it won\u2019t but it always does.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI wonder if they are telling me the truth.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI hope I don\u2019t have any cavities.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey always run late.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI don\u2019t care what I look like.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt doesn\u2019t look that bad.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat\u2019s really not important to me.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt can wait\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m not going to spend that on myself.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIs it really worth it?
