How to Align with the Future of Dentistry Right Now

I talk all the time about a lifestyle practice, about the power of private practice, and about the importance of profitability. We discuss the Four Freedoms on a consistent basis… Time Freedom, Profit Freedom, Insurance Freedom, and Team Freedom.

But here’s the truth: you’re only going to be as valuable as the patients you’re attracting and the system you’ve set up internally to actually maximize on their value.

This requires an alignment between the practice you want to build and the patients you want to serve.

The more you try to be something you’re not (where you follow something that isn’t in your heart or conflicts who you are), the more you copy those around you, the more you chase ideas that aren’t yours and hodgepodge them together into your practice…

If you can lock in on the four “New Era” realities – educated consumers, a demand for relationship-based care, patients buying at a premium, and a movement toward transformative health – then you’ve got the ingredients to create something special.

Because people are buying the slight advantage. They’re buying the cutting edge. They’re buying the future.

And if your practice is selling the past where you are only triaging patients’ problems, patching holes, and filling cracks – you’re going to get stuck. Not in the bottom 80%… but in the bottom 50%.

Eventually you will plateau. Maybe you already feel like you have with low profitability, a grind-it-out kind of day, believing the only way to get what you really want is to do MORE of what you’re already doing.

Doing MORE is never the answer. I offer you a better way.

Differentiate and Dominate

This new era of private practice dentistry is about embracing these four forces and using them to fully, completely, once and for all differentiate yourself from all alternatives.

From every other dental practice… from every other health opportunity… from every brand out there trying to compete for your patient’s attention.

When you do this right… your practice will thrive, your profit will soar, and your wealth will accelerate.

Whether you’re already financially independent or still working off debt. Whether you’ve got a 3-year, 5-year, or 10-year plan. This is the better path forward.

But the only way to take advantage of the boom in the markets (stocks, real estate, asset growth), is to get more chips off the table, out of your practice, and into your personal money business.

You’ve got to learn to do this on purpose with total, absolute discipline. And your practice must be more profitable in order to do that.

You want to invest OUT of your practice, rather than solely focusing on reinvesting IN your practice. This is a complete 180° shift from what the industry tells you. The private practice opportunity begets your personal wealth opportunity.

Furthermore, you can lessen the amount of time to earn the same amount of money (or more) when you align with these four forces as you upgrade to serving the top 20% of your patient population.

Imagine this: right now, 20% of your time is your most valuable time, right? But what if 80% of your clinical time was your most valuable time?

That’s a 4x multiple – and you wouldn’t even need the fully optimize the formula to do what I’m talking about. You could double your value and do it in half the time. THAT is how you buy your freedom.

The Dentistry You Desire

The other benefit of this is actually getting to do the dentistry you love, the procedures you are passionate about, and the care that truly changes lives.

Let me ask you: how do you want to spend your clinical hours?

You want your time spent solving problems or the creating possibilities?

I’ve never met a doctor who says, “Sign me up for as many fillings as possible.” I’ve never heard one say, “You know, I wish I did less smile makeovers.”

So let’s attract more of what you want – the patients who desire the dentistry you want to deliver.

I’m not talking gimmicks or marketing schemes that has you dumping more money into ads just to get a few decent leads. That’s how most doctors are eking out a living… by spending $20,000… $30,000… $40,000 a month in marketing just to get through the haystack and find a few valuable needles.

I’m talking about building a practice of needles. A full patient base of the right people.

That’s the transformation. That’s the mindset shift. That’s what leads to a better model built through better patients.
