As we move into Mother’s Day week, I want to pause from our usual Monday Morning Huddle focus and speak directly to the extraordinary women who make so much possible every single day.
To the moms, to the grandmothers, to the sisters, to the aunts, to the women who keep showing up with strength, grace, love, and purpose… this message is for you.
You manage so much, you hold so much, you remember so much, you carry the invisible list that never seems to end. You think about the schedule, the patients, the doctor, the team, the treatment rooms, the handoffs, the follow-up, the phone calls, the details, the family calendar, the school calendar, the home, the appointments, the emotional needs of everyone around you, and somehow, in the middle of all of that, you still find a way to smile, care, and serve. That is extraordinary.
In a dental practice, you remind us every day that care is not just clinical; care is personal. Care is looking a little deeper, listening a little better, and making someone feel like they are not just being treated but being seen.
However, please do not forget about you. You are a person with a heart, with dreams, with needs, with energy that must be renewed, with a spirit that deserves encouragement, and with a life that deserves the same level of attention you give so freely to everyone else.
That may be the most important message of all this Mother’s Day.
It’s fitting this day occurs in Spring, a season of renewal. It is a reminder that life is always growing when nurtured. Nature does not rush the process, it honors it. Maybe we should too.
Maybe this Mother’s Day is an opportunity to ask a few honest questions:
Where do I need renewal? Where have I been giving from an empty cup? Where have I been encouraging others while quietly being too hard on myself? Where do I need to receive the same kindness I so naturally give?
These are not selfish questions. They are responsible questions. Because the better you care for yourself, the better you can care for others. The more whole you are, the more present you become. The more encouraged you feel, the more inspiration you can give. The more you protect your own peace, the more calm you bring into every room.
So this week, as we honor Mother’s Day, let’s make it more than a holiday on the calendar. Let’s make it a reminder.
A reminder to honor the women who make so much possible. A reminder to celebrate the moms who carry so many demanding responsibilities. A reminder to recognize that working moms are not just “balancing” things – they are building things. They are building families, futures, practices, relationships, confidence, health, and opportunity.
This week, think both personally and professionally.
With your patients, look deeper. Remember that there is always more going on than what you can see. The person in the chair may be carrying fear, stress, grief, pressure, embarrassment, or uncertainty. They may need more than information. They may need reassurance. They may need patience. They may need someone to believe in them before they believe in themselves.
With yourself, do the same thing. Look deeper. Ask what you need. Ask what would restore you. Ask what would make you feel more alive, more peaceful, more supported, more joyful, more like yourself again. Then take one small step toward that. Not someday, not when everything slows down, not when everyone else is taken care of… this week.
To every mother and every extraordinary woman on our world-class dental teams, thank you.
Thank you for what you do. Thank you for who you are. Thank you for the seen and unseen ways you make life better for the people around you. Thank you for the care you give, the strength you show, the love you pour, and the possibilities you create.
This Mother’s Day, may you feel honored, appreciated, encouraged, and renewed.
