Weekly Report: Life Prosperity and Practice Profit
3 Things Every Doctor Can Agree On
(And The 1 Secret To Dentistry’s Dilemma)
Your weekly report from Scott Manning…
Far too many doctors suffer through easily fixable challenges and struggles simply because they think they can out work their problems. The reality of the business of dentistry is that it’s really a simple formula. Work less, make more by working smarter and focusing on value and quality over volume and quantity.
Imagine the doctor who works all day to have everything they’ve ever wanted just to be stuck at the office after hours or to get home late for dinner or worse yet, on time but without the energy to enjoy the rest of the day with your family.
What about working all week just to have more things to do on the weekend. Or worse yet, you don’t go into the office but everything in the office is weighing on your mind. Or worse still, out of sight out of mind, until you walk in Monday regretting every single moment.
Chances are you’ve lived this reality before, maybe you are living it right now.
Most doctors end up suppressing their goals, settling for less, or just becoming conditioned to believe this is the way it always has to be.
In fact, this is what has brought me here to you today. Once in a Continuing Education Course I overheard a doctor say, “I just can’t wait to until life after dentistry.”
And I just couldn’t believe this. I have always loved being an entrepreneur, a business owner; sure it’s tough, because you carry all the responsibility of success and you take all the risks for the rewards. But there’s two things I know… one, it beats the heck out of the alternative and two, if you do it right, it’s always worth it.
This is why I just couldn’t believe a doctor, just like you, investing his entire life, sacrificing so much, to get to this point, just to resent the practice he built and be eagerly awaiting an exit.
When this is your reality, it’s because the practice is hindering and diminishing your life instead of liberating and enhancing your life.
I have great news, however, it’s not a “you” problem. I mean it might be an attitude problem in you, but it’s not a “you” problem. Instead it’s a business problem.
Here’s even better news… I’ve got the solution.

What’s really interesting about this is how your practice challenges evolve with you. What you thought you’d be happy with in your first few years of practice, or first decade even, has really just boxed you into a trap that you now want to get out of in order to do things dramatically different.
The same goes for 20, 30, 40 years in dentistry. As life changes, you change. As your clinical skill expands, your experience grows, you learn what’s possible, you see more clearly, you desire bigger results.
No matter what age or stage of career you are at, no matter what life events you have gone through, no matter what model of practice you have, and no matter what type of dentistry you are doing… there are always three things that every single doctor has in common.
The first is… every doctor wants more time for people, priorities, and places outside of dentistry.
No doctor has ever said to me, “Gosh Scott, if only I could work more hours, see more patients, stay longer in the office, work even harder, and give my practice more of me…”
Rather, every challenge is an opportunity for growth and improvement.
And on the other side of it there’s a happier more fulfilling place that you very much deserve.
The bottom line is every doctor wants more autonomy and time freedom.
During my Custom Lifestyle Practice Blueprints, I begin by listening to each of my doctors in a one-on-one discussion to figure out where they are working harder instead of smarter. Almost in an instant, I can recapture hours of your time. As a result, I can cut your clinical time by a third.
What’s even more exciting than that, with the right team responsibilities and systems, we can reduce your administrative time to minutes a week instead of hours a day.
What would you do with one or two or more extra hours a day for yourself and those you care about? You might need help with that list it’s been so long.
I’ve given hundreds of doctors back their life, helped them restore their fulfillment, and find joy in doing dentistry again – all in just one single phone call.
You want more time freedom in your life? Here’s where to it all begins…

The second thing every doctor can agree on is… they would love to make more money and be paid what they are worth for the life-changing dentistry they provide. Essentially, they want to keep more of the money that they actually make in the first place.
Yes, a Lifestyle Practice is by design a highly profitable practice because your life is made possible by the profits (not the production). In fact, production weighs life down while profit lifts life up.
The challenge most practice owners face is no one is helping manage the business side of dentistry. There is no blueprint in place to grow the practice profit.
Which leads to most doctors playing with bad math. They couldn’t get the answer they want even if they tried because the equation is incorrect in the first place.
The very first thing I’m going to address in your Custom Lifestyle Practice Blueprint is illustrate exactly where the profit is at in your practice. Meaning I will help you better understand your numbers. We will fix any bad math that you are struggling to overcome and we’ll organize your practice (including your overhead and cashflow), to provide you with a healthy profit.
This way instead of being disappointed by the income statement your accountant provides, you’ll take one of those free hours just to count up all the money that you’re going to have piled up at the end of every month.
Let’s create your Practice Profit Formula right now…
Of course, every doctor knows that money isn’t enough, in fact, even time is not enough. We haven’t addressed the other greatest commonality of every doctor and it is actually the single most valuable and important aspect of all things dentistry.
The third commonality is… loving what you do!
If you aren’t looking forward to, I would even say truly enjoying, the dentistry you are doing on a daily basis then it will still feel like a grind. Maybe a tad less tedious if it’s more financially successful, but a grind none the less.
And it just doesn’t have to be this way.
Now, at times, the issue may beyond your immediate control. Perhaps it’s the patients, frustrations with your team, insurance that you have to deal with.
Whatever it is, whoever it is, why-ever it is… we must remove anything that you do not like, that doesn’t fill you up, and that doesn’t bring you joy. Because this is the most liberating and rewarding thing that can possibly happen for you.
Most view the two sides as competing… your dentistry and your life. This dilemma only exists in your mind. You can make an impact on your patients’ lives without sacrificing your own.
When you love what you do (when you are truly passionate about your dentistry again), then the time and money breakthroughs are a bonus.
How about this for a powerful, worthy, awesome Independence Month Message for you… this is exactly where we’re headed next week. I’m going to unpack each of these and give you the one thing that is holding you back from the your next Lifestyle Practice Breakthrough.
But why wait. Life’s short, as they say. Your Lifestyle Practice Blueprint awaits and it will be the most impactful decisions you’ve ever made in your career. Let’s make good on your life’s work by building on the foundation of what you have to create the most amazing future.
