How To Comeback Stronger – Part 2

I shared five specific ideas on last week’s “Dentistry Is Open For Business” Practice Comeback Call that, in and of themselves, would result in the ability for you to take the first sixty days you are re-opened and catch up financially in terms of profit for all six or eight weeks that you were forced to be shutdown.

This is in addition to the natural pent up demand of your patients that were in your schedule or now have delinquent dental care and oral health needs that are waiting in line to get back in.

Did you miss the Comeback Rally?  I hope not.  Still, worse than missing my Comeback Rally for you would be you missing your own Comeback Rally for your Practice.  So, what is your plan?

If you’ve been open now for a week or more (or never closed), the question is what are you doing differently and what are you doing to make the most of it?  Are you taking this opportunity to engage with your patients like never before and strengthen your relationship with them and move them forward with their health more proactively?

There are many lessons from the past several weeks, I hope you have documented them and also taken time to really reflect on your own life, approach, business, schedule, finances, and health in order to double down on your efforts, to focus on your future, and to design it exactly the way you want it to be.

Last week, I gave you some actions to execute on with your team and the most imperative things you can do in terms of rallying your team and getting them (and you) back to a peak state of focus, belief, priorities, and of course performance.

This week, I’d like to tell you the three most important pieces of advice that I have given every one of my Doctors and their Teams as we guide them back into action for their Practice re-opening.

Then, next week, I will hit you with four of the greatest leverage factors that have resulted from the coronavirus shutdown that will make you more essential than ever while at the same time more profitable than you thought your practice could ever be.  I bet you can’t wait for that Weekly Report.

By the way, have you been studying my brand new video series designed for this very moment in time as you hit a reset for your career as a doctor and your life as a business owner.  I’ve called it The Invincible Dental Practice.

So, here’s what NOT to do right now (or technically ever)…

First, I beg of you, please do not fall victim to any bad habits whether they are old habits that you revert to or they are things that you succumb to because of your current mindset.

Whether that is scheduling or communication or shortcutting the experience or pre-judging patients or letting insurance ruin the integrity of your diagnosing or patients’ responsibility over their health.

You have the opportunity to hit the reset button and do everything exactly as you know to do it – the state of ideal of your practice.  You are starting fresh with a blank page so please do NOT bring in any way BAD HABITS that you don’t want to keep.

Have more faith in your patients and more confidence in yourself.  You can start on the ideal path and remain there for good.  It’s much harder to undo mistakes already made.

Second, which is one that results in bad habits, is making any decision from a state of desperation or panic.

It will be fine, it is fine, everything is moving forward and so must you.  Do not make decisions based on the past several weeks, make decisions based on the next several weeks.

If you do act out of despair in any way with your patients, your schedule, your experience, your anything you will be sabotaging your success and ruining the advantage that you now have to be in complete control to put the schedule and your practice back together in exactly the way you have always wanted it.  This is why the past few weeks of Reports are so important.

Third, and finally for this week, do yourself and most of all your patients the greatest favor of all by returning and keeping the focus of every interaction with every patient on the main thing – the reason why you exist.

The very thing that has been taken from you – you are getting back.  So, don’t voluntarily give it up.

What I mean by that is: focus on your patients and their health.

Yes, you have to be safe and yes you have to do somethings differently,  but you will destroy the great comeback that you only get once if you are consumed by and obsessed with all of this red tape of overactive control measures that are being shoved in your face.

They win and you lose if you forget why you exist and why you are (and should have always been) essential.

Of course, be safe and do whatever you have to do based on your own judgment and mandates.  After that, please make sure you are focused on what you are there to do and who you are there to help.  Remember your mission, purpose, and passion.

Where you put your focus is where your team will focus and where your patients will focus.

The good news is: practices that have opened across the country have been met with overwhelming patient support, incredible demand, higher case acceptance, and gratitude from patients.

In short, not one Doctor we have heard from has said anything other than patients came back, patients are saying yes, patients are paying, I’m getting more new patients now than I was, and our schedule is full.

Which brings me to the four BIG game-changing opportunities sitting in front of you right now that stand to elevate your practice to levels of success and profitability that are greater than ever before by creating the leverage that you have always wanted.  That’s where we are going next week.

It’s time to get your Practice Comeback Rally in motion, gain momentum, and never look back!  You’ve got this!
