The One Question to Ask Your Team this New Year

Welcome back and Happy New Year! It’s like the start of a new season for a Championship Sports Team who just can’t wait to get back on the field and see what they are made of all over again. It’s time to be refreshed, renewed, refocused, reinvigorated about the possibilities that exist for you personally and professionally as an individual, as a team and as a Practice.

Of course, every day is equal to the next, same 24 hours, same life being lived, it’s what you make of each one of them that counts. Still, you can’t help but be just a little more excited and thankful, already chomping at the bit to sink your teeth into this New Year.

The past is the past, it’s in the history books. Whether it was one of celebration and victory or one of disappointment and defeat you now get to charge forward into 2016 and make it whatever you want, do with it whatever you choose, and accomplish in it whatever you are determined, committed, obsessed over achieving.

Today, right now (well hopefully before today, as we are already 4 days in), I sure hope you outline your goals, dictate the plan, set the compass, and have everyone on the same laser-focused page of how 2016 is going to be bigger, better, stronger, faster, more profitable, and yes of course ‘happier’.

It’s always funny to me that everyone says “Happy New Year” but heavens that’s easy to say when it’s the first few minutes of the next set of 365 days. Why don’t we say “Happy New Day” every 24 hours? Why do we not say “Happy New Month”? Why is it a celebration to turn the calendar (an act that you have absolutely no control of whatsoever)? Instead we should be saying “How are we going to make it a Happier New Year, different from the last?”

This is a question I would like to you to propose to your team, if not already, and even if so, now that you are back from the Holidays and everyone can settle in and reestablish clarity of purpose – this year will either happen to you or you will happen to it.

That will be determined by whether or not you decide how exactly it’s going to be different, what are you going to work on, try, change, adapt, adjust, etc.

Everyone should have an answer for themselves, for your team and practice as a whole. This is a quick exercise that will be very impactful. Choosing only one thing or at best maybe three things and writing them down, putting them up in the team lounge where everyone can remind themselves of their answers everyday.

Hey, there is a reason they used gold starts and charts on the wall in grade school, because they work…nothing wrong with having some vision reminders of your commitments.

So, you do that and then I will do this for you – I have been working on a very special, very advanced, very New-Year-esque presentation on how to achieve dramatic (and I do mean dramatic) growth in 2016 with a formulaic approach to exploding your practice potential. It’s a presentation I’m very proud of and will help tie into your vision for the New Year.

It’s going to be remarkable and it’s not going to be a bunch of blah blah blah business talk or numbers and boring stuff, it’s going to get right down into the heart of the matter, what’s most important in our every-days…your patients, the people you serve, and how focusing on what I call the 4 Pillars of Patient Focus will lead you to the biggest leverage points and opportunities for 2016 … above and beyond anything else you could possibly do, these are the most important.

And you’ll get hit with a lot of bright shiny objects and distractions early in January and I challenge you to resist them, because there is nothing that will lead to a happier New Year than advancing your ability and results on how to make your patients happier, healthier, and more success in your practice.

It’s going to be incredible and I’m excited for your feedback and for you to take these 4 pillars and get to work with them…

With that said, register right now: DentalSuccess2016.com

And ask your team the very important question from today’s lesson…and please…together, let’s be certain to make it the happiest, healthiest, most prosperous, fun new year of your life – at least until the next one !!!
