Are You Falling Victim To Insurance Based Dentistry?

Well, I bet you are, especially if you think not. Because it really has nothing to do with you, it has everything to do with your patients. The better question is: are your patients falling victim to insurance based dentistry – and are you to blame?

How could you not be? They don’t know any different.

It is your fault – if your patients are basing their care on their insurance. And it’s destroying the integrity of your practice. What do you think this is, medicine?

If you do, or if you are letting it be, then you are running an emergency clinic.

You heard me. And I’m not taking it back. I didn’t say I like it or even agree with it – in fact – it’s the very thing that drives me every single day, that I fight against on your behalf, for my independent dentists to keep their independence and therefore integrity of what they do, what you do, what you are passionate about.

You get to decide what your practice stands for. What your patients come in for may be their decision but how they leave, that is yours.

You realize every single day, I hear from Dentists all over the country about their motivation to become a dentist was to have a good lifestyle and a great income or a great lifestyle and a good income. They knew being their own boss would lead them to have control over their schedule and they could make as much as they wanted working as little as possible, and over time they would amass so much wealth in their retirement they would cash out the practice and ride off into the sunset and live happily ever after. And, they want to do this all while doing the best they can, to care in a really amazing way, to help people and to serve their patients.

All of these things can be possible if (and I do mean a very big if) their practice doesn’t robbed them of their life before they could escape and get out.

But as I always say, who would want to get out of something you really love doing…this is how I developed my concept of enjoying life while practicing dentistry. What we call the lifestyle practice.

You know, not all things, maybe no things, go as we may have planned it to be.

Example, your vision of lifestyle dentistry, retiring rich and riding off into the sunset might have been interrupted over the past few decades.

When the investment market crashed. Then the insurance companies (in cahoots with our industry), tried to launch a hostile takeover of your ability to be an independent business owner and control all of those things that motivated you to be a dentist to begin with.

Help people.
Enjoy family.
Have a life.
Achieve financial liberation.

When the real estate market crashed. Then, rinse and repeat, insurance and our industry again came after you.

Now, with the rise of corporate dentistry that came as a result of manipulation and corruption in the fees and the reimbursements, leading to commoditize dentistry and creating cookie cutter patient care forcing you to join in the volume war with increasing need for new patients and decreasing profits and nothing to show for it.

And as the economies of the whole situation would be a predicting indicator that all of these things combined together result in the deterioration of the very reasons you chose to become a dentist to begin with.

Help people.
Enjoy family.
Have a life.
Achieve financial liberation.

All that was left was for you to give in. Follow suit, and conform to all the things that you don’t believe in. Standardized care. Regulated fees. Resulting in emergency and discount dentistry as foundation for any practice to survive.

And you thought this was it…it couldn’t get any worse but it damn sure can’t get any better.

And you would be so dead wrong. It doesn’t have to be this way.

Finally, you have a choice, you have an option, there is another way. You do not have to be at the mercy of the insurance companies, shackled by the corporate dental offices, or by the commoditization of what you do.

This week I laid out my dental insurance cure, a combination of strategies based on your preferred practice model and approach to patient care and profitable dentistry that allows you to stand up to socialist dentistry and take back control over your practice, your patients, and especially your profits.

Because that’s the way it should be.

Today. My message to you is simple: Don’t give up, don’t give in, don’t lose faith, don’t stop fighting for what you want, for what has been your driving force and motivation throughout your career.

This is the greatest time to be an independent dentist.
This is the most opportune time to own a practice.

There has never been more possibilities, more choices, more exciting things happening in our industry – never – but it only matters if you choose to let it, if you decide not to be a victim but to be a hero for your team, for your patients, for your community, and above all else for yourself.

You don’t have to go it alone. Not now and never again. I am here for you, if you will allow me to be.

Accept my invitation, stand up to the evil forces fighting against everything you stand for in dentistry today, conquer the challenge, embrace the possibilities of all that is great in your practice and prepare to take back control.

I’m releasing the replay to The Dental Insurance Cure – how to beat the insurance companies and eliminate your dependency on discount dentistry once and for all – for a very limited time. Maybe a few days at best.
