We had a big success this week – so many Dentists making the decision to join the movement to take back Dentistry and put the Independent Dentists back on top. To give patients what they truly want: concierge, personalized, comprehensive care.
It just feels right doesn’t it. It should. Because this is the way it’s suppose to be.
Think back, it wasn’t that long ago where your ‘local’ Dentist held as much regard as your ‘family doctor’ where everyone in town knew who you were, and you (or maybe it was your father, mother, grandfather, or uncle), were a staple in the community, a celebrity even, everyone knew you…
And that’s without the internet or fancy whiz bang marketing tricks of dentists constantly trying to one up the other one or worse yet discount deeper just to get patients to pay attention.
Practices were built on reputation, on trust, on patient outcomes…reliable quality comfortable experiences…not price, not insurance, not copycat dentistry or one-size fits all commoditized care.
Well, I know it doesn’t sound real sexy and it’s probably not the answer you want to hear, but it is the truth, all of that – the good ole days – it all still works – when you get back to basics and you design your practice around what you want. When you align every part of your practice model for patient care and experiences with a focus on what you do best and what you desire to do more. You will see patients multiply because they will feel the integrity in what you do and they will appreciate comprehensive complete care done in a way where you have actual relationships with them, because you and your team will know who they are. Whether you are helping them get healthy or have the smile they deserve (hopefully all of the above), you will realize it’s not hard to grow your practice when it’s your practice you are trying to grow and not someone else’s ideas or vision.
This week, I shared with you about the three stages of practice ownership and gave you great insight into discovering whether or not you are on the verge of your next breakthrough or just spinning your wheels, running in circles, on a path of continuing to get more of the same.
Every Dentists desires more of almost everything…more of the dentistry they love and have been studying; more ‘better’ quality patients; more highly skilled and committed team members; more financial rewards; more time away from the chair…just to name a few…the things that most dentists don’t want more of: hours in the office, patients in the day, admin or paperwork, of course no one wants more insurance write-offs, and the list goes on.
So, the question becomes – if you make the list for yourself of what you want more of and what you want less of – you then have to ask yourself what are you doing about it?!
Right now, if you look at your practice, your team, your patients, yourself (yes, I said you) what are you attracting more of – what you want or what you don’t want?
If your actions are deliberate, if your marketing isn’t specific, if your phones aren’t answered appropriately, if your patient experience (before, during, and after) isn’t designed to achieve more of what you desire to have, if your schedule isn’t organized and controlled to match your life and practice preferences… then you are by default attracting and going to end up with more of everything except those things that you actually want.
Remember this –
There is no such thing as success by default, on accident.
There is only such a thing as success on purpose, by choice.
This is why I love what I do and why together we achieve such fast and extremely dramatic results, often growing by more in a few months than most dentists struggle to grow in years, even decades, if ever.
Because we design growth, we instigate production, we control change, we force progress, we choose to create a plan, a path, a vision that is yours – not some other dentists or consultants or for darn sure not some other random management or training or marketing company’s idea of what your practice is suppose to be.
No! Never! Not going to happen!
It’s your practice and you should be the one in charge of it. Many Dentists don’t want to accept responsibility for their own growth, they prefer excuses to actual success, security blankets to the risk of doing better, the status quo instead of the possibility of greatness that comes with work. And you know what the number one quality of every successful dentist I have ever met – the characteristic that drives them to extreme laser focused pursuit of their goals…
They know their potential is greater than their current results.
They know they deserve more than they are getting right now.
They know they don’t have an endless number of years to hit their stride, to save their money, to build their dream practice, to practice on their own terms, to go out on top…
Time is fleeting, opportunity often elusive, but neither of these should define you.
You just have to have a hunger in your belly, a passion in your heart, a vision in your mind, and a fire under your ass and you can take your Practice wherever you want it to go.
If you want help, if you value guidance but not with just any two heads, but our two heads, yours and mine are most certainly better than yours by yourself…if you’d value and appreciate my fresh eyes and super powered x-ray vision into your practice and you want me to help you become a better more effective successful owner, leader, business person and especially dentist – then accept my invitation – only good can come from it and insight that you must have to get where you desire to go next.
If I provoke your thinking, stir up your excitement, get you to dream bigger and want more – then go with it, come with me, and let’s make this happen…life’s short… the time my friend is always right now – it’s all we’ve got to do something with and accomplish what you deserve and dream possible. Trust in me, I will show you the way and then you can be the judge for yourself. I challenge you to go all-in on your Practice vision, growth, and future.
