So You Just Had a Record Month, Now What?

Of course, I hear this all the time because that is what’s supposed to happen.  And this year it should be happening more than ever before for you (as it is for so many across the country).  There are reasons for this, perhaps I’ll discuss in more detail at another time.

The good news is if you are here reading this, well then you are already at the top of your industry, upper echelon of education and at least certainly desire to be the best you can be (even if you have not quite made it yet).

And that’s okay because most who consider themselves high performers never feel like they actually arrive and they always feel like there is something left to be done, the next breakthrough to have, the record month that always eludes.

Which brings me to this topic: bettering your best – now what?

First things first, I want to thank you for the incredible comments and the brilliant feedback already coming in from the release of my newest report that was made available to you last week…

(if you are hiding under a rock or just not paying attention…you can still Grab Your Copy of This Special Report and join the other smart doctors that use it as their guide to taking control of their practice for the life-changing profitability not just busyness and going through the motions)

It’s yours for the taking, to apply the structure I have outlined, to really put it to work for you in the personal way and to use it as it was designed so you can be your own architect.  This is not the kind you get from the do-nothing know-nothing bureaucrats of the industries or the “couldn’t make a living in practice so I turned teacher” people; all of whom try to sway you to their way of thinking to feed someone else’s agenda.

You won’t find any of that misleading bs in my report.  Instead, a detailed guide with a stage by stage structuring for your total life and practice.  It will all be based on your future not your past; based on your preferences not someone else’s; and based on your desired dentistry, team, income and pretty much anything else that is important for you to think about.

It doesn’t mean you have to change the direction of your compass.  It does mean you have to look down at it and reset it every once in a while just to make sure you are still on track to YOUR destination and moving along your journey on your own terms in a gratifying form of operation and practice ownership.

Here’s the deal… You will have record months, it’s just a matter of whether or not they are happening on purpose or on accident.  The secret to keeping the momentum going and stringing together a series of best months ever has to do with three things.

Now it’s important to know that this is what should happen, because if you have a record month in collections you should have a record month in production (as long as you are scheduling all that has been sold properly), and then that begets another month of compounding growth because you have no more room for production this month it has to go somewhere, and then as long as you keep selling you will keep winning…

1st – No matter how well things are going, make certain that you are staying on top of your diagnosis and case acceptance daily, by team member, by column and by type of patient and department within the practice.

If you let these numbers slide even for a day or two then you will quickly get behind and a few days behind means a month that needs luck instead of a month that is in control.  You can’t make up time in the schedule or diagnosis in the day.  You can have slack adjuster cases or windfall days, but you don’t want to rely on them.

2nd – Always ensure your new patient flow; whether half a person, one or two or three or four or whatever number is your daily target is steady and consistent.  No matter how busy you get on the doctor’s side, you never let new patients get out of balance

3rd – Finally you have to celebrate and refocus.  With every victory everyone needs to have some time to pat each other on the back and say good job.  Then they need another rally cry for the ‘game’ that is going to be played next month, next week, tomorrow because this one is over.  Champions move on.  Losers dwell.

Champions expect to set records.  Losers are surprised and therefore savor the victory too long and that’s what throws it all off course.

In the process of winning in a great month there has to be daily focus on setting up the next month that is yet to be played.  Celebrate the present but never stop focusing on the future, otherwise you will sandwich records with disappointments and that emotional roller coaster isn’t good for anyone – especially not you.

Hey this IS your life.  Do your homework please, it’s good for you.  Besides, your team, patients and especially your family is depending on you to lead the way to bettering your best.
