I really appreciate hearing so many engaging, positive comments from Doctors and Team members over the past few weeks as we dove into the powerful concept of Team Sport Dentistry.
There is a dramatic and dynamic shift in thinking and in team cohesiveness when you adopt the mentality that you are in fact playing to win every day.
It’s not just another day, just another column of patients, just another month of trying to hit your goals. With emphasis on the word trying.
You made a decision to have a game plan and to work it together as a team.
The most important part of that is defining what a victory is for the day as a group and as individuals. Not only in terms of money, though that is the number on the scoreboard.
As they say, you can rack up all the receptions and yards but all matters is how many points you have.
It is football season again, after all. You may or may not care. You might have a favorite team or a player you cheer for, maybe you even have a fantasy team you play along with.
What matters every week when a player steps onto the field of play is that they know their assignment.
I have explained this in several different ways before. There is nothing more important, nothing that will have the most immediate impact on your daily progress towards your goals than each Team Member knowing their assignment…not only for that day but for every individual patient.
This is a big thing that is missed in the daily huddle. Lots of talking about yesterday (which should have been done at the close of the day in the debrief not in the morning of a brand new day), instead of moving on to the present day ahead of us.
This week, I challenge you to get in the habit of each person stating clearly the goals they have for the day; how much treatment they are going to create; and their goal for moving patients forward with their health and the practice forward with its profits (those two things go together and they would be the point of what we are doing here).
When there is a daily assignment with the highest priorities owned by each team member and when you sum up all of those you have a game winning formula.
So…get out there and win!
