The ‘ONE’ Thing

There is a really amazing book out there called “The One Thing” and it’s is just fabulous in terms of helping people focus.  Kevin and Tyrella always love helping Team Members to self-identify their ‘one thing’ that they will commit to improving, focusing on, getting done, pushing off the cliff, or whatever the context of the action is designed for.

For as long as I can remember, I always told people if you would just do one thing you would be doing one thing more than most.

Finish one project a month.  Try one thing a week.  Do one thing a quarter.  Commit to remembering and bringing up one thing with each patient.

One thing.  That’s all.

And you will be doing more than just about anyone else ever will.  I promise.  Most people – they do nothing – they just go through the motions.  See the patients in the schedule and that’s it.  Trust me.

That is also why we get such dramatic results and why you can go years with growth that is stalled or plateaued because you are doing the same thing as you have always done.  Instead, if you commit to just one thing a day, a week, a month, a quarter you will be so far ahead of everyone else.

It does take this type of focus.  Anyone can go through a day and do what everyone else does.  It’s the people who step up, who reach above, who do more, who want more that make things happen.

Go ahead, try me…

One more picture per patient.

One more reactivation call per day.

One more tooth per appointment.

One more ask for referral.

One more implant diagnosis, ortho series, treatment conference, smile makeover…

One more.

Imagine this: what if everyone on your team just did one more of something per hour per day… what kind of multiplying effect would that have on your overall treatment diagnosis, presentation, case acceptance, schedule treatment and cash collected per day.

I challenge you to bring this focus to every single morning huddle.  Not just patients in the schedule, not just unscheduled treatment already documented, not just the same old thing that we always do – but one more – action, decision, commitment, progress step, proactive measure.  Watch your team create more success every single day than you could have imagined in a week or a month.

This is why our trainings drive so much impact because everyone brings their one thing to the table at their highest point of awareness and they make magic happen.

You can repeat this every day in every meeting with every patient and you will have the power to create, do, accomplish what others would never believe possible.

One Thing.  What will yours be today?
